You might encounter a few issues with the latest version of VMware ESXi, specifically with v5.5 and up. Realtek 8111/8168 NIC drivers, which your motherboard uses, has been removed. You can either install the drivers yourself or use a lower version - v5.1 or lower. Since your gonna give VMware a try, stick with using 5.1 for the meantime.

For more info, consult the following posts:

Install ESXi 5.5 with Realtek 8111/8168 NIC
Realtek 8169 NIC in ESXi 5.5 not detected by default – install a VIB

Definitely possible. Your manager is referring to Software as a Service (Saas). But it usually depends on what your current setup is and what you decide to have cloud-based. Another question would be how reliable is your internet connection.

IaaS(Infrastructure as a service) ang tawag dyan kung ang mga servers nyo ay i-migrate sa cloud pero managed nyo parin ang applications, hardening, etc, one example ng IaaS ay yung AWS EC2 or Elastic Compute Cloud(research more about this, this is very interesting and very game changing). Kung mag office365 kayo or Sharepoint, that is Software as a Service. Ano palang cloud service provider ang kukunin nyo? Better start investing in cloud skillset, hate to say it but System/Network admin skillset pababa na ang demand gawa ng cloud computing.

take a look at this analogy of On-Premise vs Cloud

violet = managed by your IT
orange = managed by cloud service provider

May alam ba kayong converter ng pst to mbox. nag mamigrate ako ng outlook to thunderbird. malaki kasi masyado yung file size ng pst na itatransfer ko. pag nag iimport ako sa thunderbird nag eerror then stuck up na. kaya balak ko sana iconvert nalang siya then lagay nalang sa local folder ng thunderbird. thanks

"Bossing maraming salamat sayo!

at ano po ba advantages and disadvantages nito hehe

sasagutin ko mga tanong mo based on my experience only

1. wala dapat mabago sa pag access nyo kung ung server nyo eh i-virtualize lang sa cloud. dapat ma RDP mo parin sya, or whatever way you access it right now, dsa.msc, dsa.msc, powershell session, etc.

2. depende, kung IaaS sya wala dapat mabago as is parin

4. maraming advantage yan lalo na kung marami kayong server, una wala ka nang imamaintain na servers, rack, datacenter, cooling system, tipid ka sa kuryente at sa lease, less work, higher uptime, mag upgrade ng CPU,RAM,Storage on the fly(just like vmware), babayaran mo lang ay ung uptime ng mga server. downside? possible magbawas kayo ng tao, another downside is kind of fresh pa ang cloud kaya mangangapa pa tayo dyan for sure(though i do not consider this as downside, i consider this as opportunity).

another good thing is, ofcourse, yung career growth. considered hottest skill yang cloud ngayon.

- sa internet connection make sure at least may 2 to 3 connection ka for fail-over and yes they should have a minimum of 50Mpbs bandwidth.
- alternative if in case offline ang resources. How will the company will still operate in such situation? Wag kayo gumaya sa BIR! heheh!
- I don't think magbabawas ng tao as I still see most ng problem nasa client side. So technical support will still be there. Also ilan ba most ng admin sa isang business? Most ng alam ko 1 to 2 lang sa medium sized.

Newbie here,mga Sir kakagraduate ko lang po ng april COE and gusto ko mag focus as system administrator and siguro after 4-5years gusto ko mag Cyber Security Engineer, ano pong mga services and softwares or tools ang kadalasan ginagamit ngayon?
like kunwari
Centos =IDS= Snort suricata,proxy server = squid
Windows = active directory,Exchange server,DNS,DHCP
Ubuntu = DNS,DHCP,Mail server,Ssh server,iptables,

or monitoring tools? or PDF po para makapag aral pa ko sa mga d ko pa alam na services.TIA! :lol::lol::lol::lol:
