If you're always getting the red "X" in your sms, then there might be some settings error in your sms settings (like maybe the service center number is wrong)...

do one thing, switch off your handset, take out the battery and the sim too...keep it that way for some time(say 1-2 mins) and then reinsert the sim and the battery...let your blackberry restart normally...now, try sending the sms...and try if could send out messages...

normally, restarting the handset reloads the default settings of the sms(like the service center number)...

then you're out of luck.

you have to pay for some third party vendor to have your mep reset back to 0 and at the same time do the sim unlock procedure.. it's not cheap though
