Some Islamic countries do that, making the rapist marry the victim, to escape punishment.
Maraming kasong ganyan ang hanggang ngayon nangyayari.
However, in this country you can't quote that verse as a defense
if ever you rape somebody.
Unless of course mayaman ka, or a big time politician.
Most likely makukulong ka.
And rape suspects inside city jails do not do well.
So wag mo na ituloy ang balak mo.
It won't work. Hehe.

women are marginalized by the jews. it's part of their culture. since the authors of the bible are jews, their patriarchal culture is reflected in their writings. in fact, its not only in the old testament that you can encounter instances where women are discriminated. even some of jesus' disciples displayed the same treatment to women. Apostle Paul once said "I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be silent."

Clearly Moses and God approves of rape of virgins.
