ROOTING PROCEDURE WORKS FOR CM ULTRA DEVICES RUNNING KIT KAT ONLY

To those who did NOT update their CM Ultra yet may check this

Hello once again Cherry Mobile Ultra users!

Cherry Mobile has finally released an improved ROM for the Cherry Mobile Ultra though MANY users have complaints with its functionality. Let this not be a hindrance to our product for the modifications are yet to come to our CM Ultra devices.

Your warranty is now VOID! I am not responsible for the act of rooting your device. All of the rooting concerns in regards to our Cherry Mobile Ultra are under the consent of the user him/her. If you choose to continue with rooting, you by default have agreed that whatever MAY happen to your device is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE:

**TO THOSE WHO GOT THE DRIVERS ALREADY YOU MAY SKIP STEP TWO ONLY**

STEP ONE: ENABLE USB DEBUGGING

IF NORMAL USER:
To do this you must open your SETTINGS MENU

Press ACCESSIBILITY and cancel the Talk back Notification

Scroll Down and ENABLE USB DEBUGGING
Now PLUG your phone to the Computer
Swipe Down the STATUS BAR
You may encounter an option saying CONNECTED IN (MTP,Charging Mode,PTP,ETC...)
Press that option and a new window will appear then SELECT ADVANCED DEBUG MODE

IF POWER USER:
Press ABOUT PHONE in the settings menu
TAP the BUILD NUMBER multiple times until you get the toast notification YOU ARE NOW A DEVELOPER

Open DEVELOPER OPTIONS and ENABLE USB DEBUGGING

Now PLUG your phone to the Computer

STEP TWO: DOWNLOAD ADB DRIVERS
**To those who already Rooted their Cherry Mobile Ultra before may skip this STEP**

1. To do this we must obtain UNIVERSAL ADB DRIVERS
2. Go to the Universal ADB Driver site for the latest executable
3. Then Download the ADB Driver Installer (9.0 MB) in the DOWNLOADS SECTION
4. Run the application as ADMIN and press allow/unblock if your firewall asks about the app connecting to the internet.
5. **You'll see a window Like this: View attachment 192130
6. PLUG-IN your phone to the Computer IF UNPLUGGED
7. You'll now see a New Device with an EXCLAMATION POINT (!) : View attachment 192132
8. *NOTE: If you press install. You'll see that it would say [ERROR] Incompatible with OS WHEN USING WINDOWS Vista/7/8/8.1.*
9. If it FAILS then you have to DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE. You may want to use Google for that.
10. After DISABLING DRIVER SIGNATURE you'll now be brought to your desktop.
11. NOTE: IT MAY SEEM LIKE IT DID NOTHING ONCE YOU DISABLED DRIVER SIGNATURE SO DON'T RESTART YET
12. Open ADBDriverInstaller again as ADMIN
13. Press Install and you might get a window saying "WINDOWS CAN'T VERIFY PUBLISHER..."
14. Press Install Driver Anyway once you get that Window
15. A CHECK mark beside your Device Manufacturer: K-Touch Will appear in green color meaning it has succeeded driver installation
16. If it SUCCEEDS then Proceed to STEP THREE.

STEP THREE: Download XMAX'S ROOT TOOL for MSM8926

1. Download XMAX'S ROOT TOOL HERE
2. EXTRACT the contents to your Desktop
3. Make sure your phone is plugged to the Computer
4. Open the contents and RUN the Batch file named XMAX_VEC4G_SPAIN_ROOT
5. YOUR PHONE MAY RESTART TWICE OR THRICE SO DONT TOUCH IT YET
6. Wait for the Batch File to FINISH Operations until you see PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE View attachment 193384
7. CONGRATULATIONS! Your Cherry Mobile Ultra Kit Kat is NOW ROOTED but we MIGHT need Optimized BUILD PROPERTIES

OPTIMIZED BUILD PROPERTIES FOR THE CM ULTRA KIT KAT (LTE-enabled ensured)
Though the optimized build.prop is optional... It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
You can download the optimized build.prop here



Benefits of the Optimized build.prop:

• Switch between WIFI and Data is almost instantaneous
• Enabled Dual-Transfer mode for faster 2G/3G
• Enabled Ciphering(security) for GSM/WCDMA
• Default DNS set to OpenDNS
• Enhanced Buffer size for seamless Streaming
• Uncapped HSDPA and HSUPA
• Preferred Network by Default is set to LTE/LTE-A
• I did the customizations

Now all that's left is the carrier to remove its throttling...

To install the optimized build.prop you must obtain the following:

• Optimized Build.prop
• Root Privileges
• Any ROOT CAPABLE EXPLORERS

Step-by-step Procedure:

1. Obtain Root privileges for your Root Explorer (mount R/W)
2. Extract the build.prop to /system/
3. Change permissions of the file to rw- r-- r--
4. Reboot TWICE to take effect

This thread is intended for Cherry Mobile Ultra devices and does not need any OTHER super user app since the rooting procedures are EXCLUSIVE to only this device with a similar chip set family. By default the rooting app uses SuperSU as the DEFAULT super user app. If you have any other concerns then I'd tell you to ask your fellow CM Cheer users cause this is a CM Ultra Exclusive root thread

So if you had installed the driver then you would already have a green check mark to confirm it

There are many factors that contribute to NOT locking in GPS position. It could be that there is no GPS Satellites to lock onto, therefore no GPS signal. So in other words, this means that you are in a geolocation where there's NO GPS signal. Another cause would be you needing to RESET THE GPS POWER SWITCH so that you can awaken the GPS chip in the Ultra. There are other phones out there that can't lock into your location because even if your phone shows that the GPS is on and yet it does not lock into your geolocation is the cause of a miscommunication between kernel and hardware. So in other words, you need to RESET THE GPS either by turning off the phone OR turning the GPS off for 2 mins. then turning it back on. Lastly, upgrading to the latest STOCK ROM WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT FIX IT. If you had the problem before then how would a software upgrade fix it, right? Unless it was REALLY A SOFTWARE PROBLEM then it would be valid to UPGRADE to a more STABLE ROM. Now if it was the hardware that had the problem then you'd have to service your unit.

Your phone WILL be in a bootloop if you forgot to set the permissions
