Test if your anti virus program is clever enough - must do ​

The guys at EICAR (European Expert Group for IT-Security) would let u do so.

All you need to do is create the testfile and scan it with your virus scanner. If the scanner detects something it is working as intended, if it does not you should consider changing immediately to a more reliable one.
Creating the file is pretty simple.

Just create a new text file and paste the following line of code into it:

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX547CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

Save the file and rename it to test.com. When executed it displays the message EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE. No harm will be done to your system if you accidentally execute the file. To test your virus scanner right-click the file and select to test it with your software.

yup, wala kasing code or signature ang avg para jan kaya hindi nya nadedetech. saka isa pa hind iyan ang basehan. ibig bang sabihin pag na detect yan nung anti virus kilala nya lahat ng virus? mmmm.... nyway, AVG rin gamit mo noh? he he he.....

AVG 7.5.447 Prof Edition (Anti Virus) saka AVG 7.5.0.50 Plus (Anti Spyware) gamit ko. sa ngayon di parin natitinag kaya dito parin ako.... AVG Rules!!!!!!!!!

sa akin gumana, ibig sabihin working ang antivirus ko..

kaya ako norton antivirus parin ako, mas pinagkakatiwalaan ko kesa sa avg, para sa akin di magandang antivirus ang avg, kasi may mga virus na di ma-detect at pag may binago ka lng sa code ng virus, di na nya ma-detect.. lalo na yung new folder.exe na file sa flash drive di nya ma-detect.

somebody told me na un AVG daw is kapag expired n ang license eh malufet na virus daw ang pinapadala...ewan ko lng kung totoo un...

Hindi man nadetect ng AVG di ibig sabihin na mahina siyang anti-virus software...
kung nadetect ng ibang AV, ibig sabihin kahit pekeng virus ay kina quarantine...
DELIKADO.... sa AVG pa rin ako..

The test may have been only used for compliance by AV vendors. Kumbaga e, they would like to aim na sana, yan ang standard testing measure kung gumagana nga ba ang antivirus software mo o hindi. As for AVG, maaaring hindi na nila inimplement na i-detect ito out of their own reasons, dahil sa ngayon wala pa namang naka-set na standards na kailangang sundin kapag gagawa ka ng antivirus so it does not necessarily really mean na defective ang antivirus pag hindi nya nadetect ito (yung code sa taas).

1. Open notepad

2.Paste this:

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

3. Save as "test.com"

To check kung maayos nga anti-virus mo:

• The moment you save, magrereact agad anti-virus mo at sasabihing virus found

or

• scan the save file with your anti-virus

pagnadetect yan as virus, reliable anti-virus mo. kung hindi...

kapg po inexecute yung file, it will not make any harm.

lalabas po ung EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE na message kung inexecute nyo to via cmd. (command prompt)

sa pagdelete naman, yung normal na pagdedelete.

actually, hindi po ito virus. it will only check kung ok ba yung anti-virus mo.
