[TUTORIALS] Nokia N9 (MeeGo/Harmattan)

The default video player can play 720p without any modifications needed. You just need to make sure that the format of the video is either XVid or H264 "base" profile: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1109769&postcount=17

For more information and the "reality" of "full HD" on mobile devices, please read this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=87469

If you are planning to convert movies/videos for optimal playing on the N9, use this as a guide: http://developer.nokia.com/Community/Wiki/Recommended_video_encoding_settings

Pro Tip: when watching videos/movies on a mobile device, strictly speaking dapat kino-convert talaga siya. Here is the explanation: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1283578&postcount=18

Please visit the official website of MeeGo (paki-Google na lang).

The OS of Nokia N9 is technically NOT MeeGo, but Maemo (version 6...yung N900 ay version 5). The OS of Nokia N9 is Maemo with a MeeGo instance.

No problem. Here's a good article by the way to explain "high resolutions" on small screens such as mobile devices. This explains why it is NOT necessary to use high resolution videos on mobile devices: http://blogs.tribune.com.pk/story/16554/is-the-samsung-galaxy-s4-really-worth-it/

From that article, here is a very good piece of fact (to quote):

The reason is that the human eye cannot distinguish the difference in PPI when the figure reaches a saturation point of about 300 (slightly exaggerated, otherwise some studies suggest a threshold of 250 PPI). Therefore, having a PPI of more than 300 will not make any difference to normal human eye unless you use a magnifying glass or have the screen pressed up against your eyeballs to see the subtle difference (of course you don’t want to do that).

Even for people with 20/20 vision, a full HD resolution would be a waste because most people’s eye can’t resolve sharpness above 250 PPI. The same goes for observing the photos quality. The pixel details in a photograph is always spread over more than one pixel and never perfectly aligned with the pixel structure of the display. So it will not matter whether you view the photographs on a 1080p or 720p display; they will appear the same. If you come across a smart phone having a PPI above 350, safely take it as a marketing stunt. It is not going to make the smart phone’s screen any sharper.

There is an app in the Nokia (Ovi) Store called Font Manager.

If you are interested to change ONLY the font in "Conversations" app, simply use N9 Quick Tweak.

You have to get your own fonts first.

For that, download Font Manager from the Store.

:) In fact, yun agad ang tatambad sa screen at the first time na ni-run ang app.

Madali lang naman pong butingtingin yan. Take it one step at a time. Change a setting, save, then observe the device para makita ang new font.

Then, repeat: change another setting.

Isa-isa lang, para hindi malimutan ang binago.

Try this: http://nokiaindependent.com/2012/02/19/change-your-n9s-font-style/

Puwede ring ganitong style (although "quick-and-dirty" hack/style siya)...basically yung original fonts eh papalitan mo ng gusto mong font...ire-rename mo lang yung desired fonts mo into the same name as the original fonts para i-overwrite: http://nokiamobileblog.com/how-to-change-the-font-of-your-nokia-n9/
