@topet

For Lubuntu, have you tried going to their main website? Or are you referring to the "minimal" version of Lubuntu as in Minimal talaga (e.g. for computers with less than 160MB of RAM)?

yes, ung minimal, pang low end pc
meron silang minimal instructions(for 10.10 ata)
stated here: [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu

pero upon going to :https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/DocumentationHelp#Minimal Install
there is no hint or tutorial or stating the minimal steps

lubuntu ver 10.04
http://phillw.net/lubuntu-10.04.iso --> down
http://lubuntu.net/blog/lubuntu-1004-now-available-download#comment-1116 --> no reply (yet) if the link is down.

Meron naman akong nakita. Scroll mo pababa, or use the Index at the right to click on: "minimal install and 64-bit" under section 5. "Advanced Users". Clicking it will scroll the webpage to the section. Read up on the section as it has another link. Click on that link and it will lead you to the instructions.

This is where you will be led when you click on "minimal install and 64-bit under section 5: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/DocumentationHelp#Minimal%20Install%20and%2064%20Bit

Then when you read up on the scrolled section, there is another link named "installing using mini-iso": https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/DocumentationHelp/MinimalInstall

Yonip,

Download version 5.1.1: http://puppylinux.org/main/Download%20Latest%20Release.htm
Puppy Manual: http://puppylinux.org/main/Manual-English.htm

For me, the manual is well-documented. It contains step by step procedures ng kailangan mong gawin to install it to hard disk, preparing the hard disk, manual partitioning, actual installation, etc. Pero remember, Puppy Linux is recommended to be run in a CD or a USB only rather than a hard disk. Since you mentioned you have a future plan of dual-booting a Linux distro with Windows, maganda rin na i-try mo ang iba pang distros. For starters, okay din naman ang Puppy. :)

Friends, I'm off to work. Keep in touch na lang. :)

my suggestion if you are using a low end computer I would suggest for you to install CrunchBang Linux it's a low end Debian based Linux distro using Openbox desktop Manager.. am testing the latest version on our Desktop running 900mhz AMD processor and 128MB ram so far... sobrang bilis naman! and yung USB Huawei E1552 modem is supported without any modifactions

@topet2k12001 - do you ever rest? ;) .. magpahinga ka naman bossing! :salute:

Yes, there are other distros na mas lightweight pa sa Puppy and CrunchBang Linux is one of them. :)

Nice. :) Yup, try mo kaya mo yan. ;) Basta if you come across any questions, andito lang kami. Also tried Fedora and Puppy. Si Kaanib I think he's wanting to try PC-BSD. Si Bush naman Puppy.

Sobrang daming gumagawa ng Linux distros. :) As such, eto ang suggested reading materials para sa iyo:

DistroWatch: http://distrowatch.com/
List of Linux Distributions (from Wikipedia): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_distributions
Linux.org: http://www.linux.org/

Tip ko sa iyo take it slow, read up lang muna. Nakaka-excite talaga ang variety na kayang i-offer ng Open-Source, so choose your distro and enjoy mo muna, then as you gain more experience you may try others naman. :)

Tutorial: How to Burn a Linux ISO (Installer) to a CD

Hi Friends,

I know most of you already know how to do this, but just wanted to post this for the benefit of those who are new. Since we are currently on discussions regarding Puppy Linux, I'll use the Puppy Linux ISO installer in this tutorial. For the CD Burning Software, I used Nero Burning ROM.

1. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to your ISO file. Right-click on it, select "Open With" and then choose Nero Burning ROM.

2. The Nero Application will start and will immediately show you the burning options/settings. If you want to save further changes to a CD (as with the case of Puppy Linux which allows you to save your data to the CD), please ensure that the "Finalize Disc" is not checked. Also the general rule of thumb when burning an image is to choose a low burn speed (typically 4X for CDs and 1X for DVDs). Note: make sure by the way, that you are using a re-writeable CD for this purpose. :)

3. The Nero application will start burning the ISO into your CD.

4. Once finished you will see a confirmation like the one below.

Bonus Item: Attached is a PDF file on how to burn and boot the Puppy Linux ISO to either a CD or a USB.

Hope this helps. :)

mga bossing pa help po. This is all about mozilla firefox.

Thanks po in advance :praise:

Kaya tatanung sana ako if may alternative na software maliban sa adobe flash plug in. :)

Hi Friend,

By default, may flash plugins na naka-install na agad sa Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 which is open-source. Try mo, pag newly-installed ang Ubuntu mo, open a new browser session (Mozilla Firefox) and type this in the address bar and press Enter:

Code:
about:plugins

Anyway, if you have 2 brands of Java plugins in your Ubuntu (Sun Java - which uses Adobe, and Open JDK - which uses IcedTea), you can always switch between them. Sa Page 1, hanapin mo lang yung topic na "how to install Java plugins" under the section "General Ubuntu".

Hope this helps. :)

P.S.: although mabigat nga sa resources ang Sun Java plugins, please note that a lot of websites run properly using the proprietary plugins (e.g. Sun Java) rather than the open-source plugins (OpenJDK), especially banking websites. I guess you can go ahead with the open-source plugins.

Hi Friend,
