ubuntu po, Operating system po siya , just like M$ WinDOS XD este windows.

Kailangan ba talaga ng swap space? I've read about it a bit at sa tingin ko hindi na nmn tlga siya kailangan at pampabagal lang(?) Especially if you have one disk and different partitions for the swap space and for Ubuntu. Ano po ang masasabi nyo mga kaSymbs? I'm currenlty running on Ubuntu 11.10 w/o swap space. Fresh install. Hehe.

EDIT:

Sorry for the wrong info.

Hi Friend,

Just so you know na rin, sa Microsoft Windows meron din niyan.

Swap space is not required in Linux..."Swap" space is when you allocate physical disk space to act like a "buffer" or "temporary storage" for "temporary files"...pantulong sa RAM ang swap space, actually. Kung ang system mo ay may napakaraming RAM/Memory (4GB pataas), you will most likely not need swap space.

On the other hand naman, mahalaga rin na may swap space ka, kung ikaw ang tipong user na mahilig na iniiwang naka-on ang computer for many days nang walang patayan at mahilig gumamit ng "Suspend" at "Hibernate" feature ng mga OS. Google or Wikipedia mo lang, I'm sure mahahanap mo ang explanation kung bakit. :)

Or if you want to have practical knowledge of what I'm trying to say, try doing this: While you're logged in to Linux/Ubuntu, lock mo PC mo or select "Shut Down....". Typically you can see "Shut Down", "Restart", "Suspend", at "Hibernate".

Reboot your computer and boot from your Live CD or Live USB (yung pinang-install mo ng Linux/Ubuntu mo). Tapos once you are logged in sa Live Session, run GParted and then i-turn off mo ang swap (right click mo lang ang swap partition, then select "swap off").

Then, reboot your computer but this time, wag ka na mag-boot sa Live Session (Live CD or Live USB)...start your computer in Linux. Lock mo ang computer and mapapansin mo mawawala na ang "Suspend" at "Hibernate" features dahil naka-off ang swap mo. :)

So again, whether it is required or not depends sa user. :) Pero may gamit yan.

Thanks for the info Sir topet! Hehe. Nainstall ko na siya kagabi. Nakatulugan ko nga eh.

Kaso nung nagreboot na ko after installation, "grub_xputs not found" then under nun is "grub rescue:" Mali ata ung installation ko. Huhu.

Reply na lng din po kayo if you can help. I'll do the guides that I found when I get home po. Though I'm still researching about it pa po.

Ubuntu 11.10 from BackTrack5 r1 po. Sinet ko manually ung partition na pnag-installan ko where BT5r1 was installed. Also chose the format option in the installation process using the LiveCD and didn't have the swap space po.

Thank you ulit Sir! :)

Good day!

I tried an experiment para makapag vpn ako ng di na need dumaan sa gateway or internet ng network provider natin pero gamit ko sila to get in to the network parang lan.

The 1st test is setting up a webserver and it went good.

[SOLVED]

OK na po siya. Found the solution here. Thank you din po mga kaSymbs! :D

Do you have a wireless router? :) Gagawa ka ng sarili mong OpenVPN and then create your own config files (.ovpn)...I haven't had the time though, medyo busy sa work.

Nakapag pagana din ng vpn. Bakit kaya yung iba ayaw ipakita ung .ovpn files nila T_T

Baka kasi premium accounts yung kanila. Also there are a lot of threads na kasi here in Symbianize that talk about config files (.ovpn)...so dun na lang tayo tumitingin, since network-based naman ang settings nun and not really dependent on the OS. As long as .ovpn file siya and the settings are correct.

Masyado kasing dynamic (ever-changing) and varied (andaming VPN providers - free and non-free) ang mga config files...and mostly trial and error. Ako ang ginagawa ko I just search dito lang sa Symbianize; there are a lot of threads about this. :) If I remember nag-post na rin ako dito sa thread natin and I can't remember kung na-link ko sa Page 1. Pero yung nga masyadong dynamic...what works today may not work tomorrow, ika nga.

Or you may want to visit yung isa kong thread, yung Nokia N900 tutorials. Pretty much same lang naman ang methodology. Lalo na kasi ang N900, it uses a Linux-based OS (Maemo5). ;) Try mo yung mga VPN providers dun as well as yung config files.
