Package lib32z1 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'lib32z1' has no installation candidate

apt-get install lib32ncurses5
apt-get install lib32z1
apt-get install libx11-6:i386
apt-get install ia32-libs-gtk

Try mo e update(sudo apt-get update). Pag wala pa rin then hanapin mo sa web(ubuntu packages).

Nasa thread ang answer sa problem mo. Look under "Internet" section, Item #5.

For older versions (Ubuntu 10.04 and older), try searching for a package named usb-modeswitch.

...or the easier way: upgrade to a newer version of Ubuntu.

Re: Tutorials: Ubuntu (a Debian/GNU Linux Distribution)

Minimal BASH-Like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible device or file completions.

Unfortunately hindi pa ako nakaka-experience working with actual servers. You might be interested in the official documentation: https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/index.html.

During the install wizard kasi you are asked where to install Ubuntu. May dropdown dun, usually SDA, and then SDA1, SDA2, etc. etc.

GRUB by the way is yung Bootloader ng Linux (GRand Unified Bootloader).

Thanks, and welcome to the thread. Actually hindi mahirap hanapin ang thread na ito, since "sticky" thread siya under "Linux and Other OS" na category/sub-forum.

All the usual tutorials, and FAQs, are on Page 1 (First Post).

As mentioned in my previous response, that error message comes up due to two common possible reasons:

1. GRUB not installed, or...
2. GRUB installed on the wrong partition.

Re: Tutorials: Ubuntu (a Debian/GNU Linux Distribution)

Both actually.
1. Yes, you can do the partition before the installation. The safer way is to boot muna into the Live USB then you can use the GParted application to create or modify your partitions then you can install after that.
2. It is also safe to do the partitions during the installation process.
3. After you install Ubuntu, Grub will be installed and it will automatically give you a boot menu where you can choose which OS you can boot into.

thank you po.

Maraming salamat!

1. You don't need to press any key para lumitaw ang GRUB cos by default it will display a menu with a list of installed OS allowing you to choose which one you'd like to boot into.

I would suggest you boot into Ubuntu and do the following:
1. Open a terminal and run:

sudo update-grub

2. Then check the list kung nandun ang Windows 7 loader, if not, run mo naman eto:

sudo apt-get install os-prober

sudo chmod +x /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober

grep menuentry /boot/grub/grub.cfg

4. Kung wala pa rin dun sa list, you have to fix muna your Windows 7 boot files.

edit: ok lang po bang gamitan ko nalang ng wubi? and bakit ganun kapag nasa "install alongside with freedos" imbes na "continue" nakalagay "restart to continue"? bad copy kaya?
