[TUTORIALS] Ubuntu (a Debian/GNU Linux Distribution)

while installation kase meron option na ubuntu+microsoft office? kaya curious ako..

TIA

welcome po dito.

internet is not a prerequisite in installing ubuntu. its your choice if you want to connect to internet while installing - at dahil connected ka, automatically dinadownload niya ang mga updates ng ubuntu. you can disconnect the internet para matapos yung installation. you can update after installing ubuntu na.

Ubuntu is a FOSS. Free and Open Source Software. You can do anything you want to this software. :D

Having an active Internet connection during the installation process is not required, but recommended. This is because there may be hardware na kung saan wala sa CD/USB installer ang mga drivers. :)

While it is true that you can install drivers after installation, recommended na during installation ay nag-iinstall/download na rin ng drivers si Ubuntu.

So yun po ang isa (sa maraming) sa mga possible causes ng problem mo about:

1. Screen blanking/showing only black background on reboot
2. No sound

There is also a bug filed against that particular motherboard, relating to sound. Google lang ninyo. Ito ang nakita ko:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/858927
http://markmail.org/message/di7p54qn3ns3lnf4

Here's another good link pero for video naman: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1847442

It's possible na okay naman ang video card mo and the driver. Please check Page 1 of this thread, if I remember correctly may nakapag-post na about that problem of yours.

So at this point, since installed na siguro ang Ubuntu ninyo, connect to the Internet and run an Update.

Yung blank screen actually negligible yun. In fact, in the case where the Ubuntu Splash screen (yung purple na "Ubuntu" screen) is working properly, if a user presses on the "Esc" key mag-change yun to black. Minsan sadyang gusto yun ng ibang users para makita nila ang nangyayari while the system is booting.

Regarding video card drivers for NVIDIA, I would suggest going to Page 1.

regarding with the bold statement I quoted from you,

as far as I can remember, gumamit ako ng installer ng 7 at binoot ko hanggang dun sa startup repair, tapos pasok ako sa command prompt. may inenter ako dun, pero di ko na matandaan. it was something to do with MBR. after that, I restarted and voila! I directly booted in Windows 7. Yep, you heard it right. Directly. So after that MBR fix, yung Ubuntu, especifically yung grub na naman ang wala. Ewan kung ano na ginawa dun, parang nagreinstall na lang ata ako sa ubuntu nun.. kaya til now (from last 3 days na naformat ko to), ito na,, and this is final.

I did manually for my own.

UPDATE:
This was what I did on that case.
just don't go beyond "Replacing the Windows XP Bootloader with Windows 7"

Yes, you can uninstall Ubuntu. But if your intention is just to check kung safe ang mga files under Windows, hindi naman kailangang i-uninstall ng Ubuntu. You can check naman from Ubuntu via File Manager kung intact ang Windows files ninyo.

Or, ang intention ba ninyo is to check kung mag-boot yung Windows after uninstalling/removing Ubuntu? If so, the answer is "no". May kailangang po kayong gawin para mag-boot ang Windows after removing Ubuntu...which is yung steps na nabanggit ni romski (and incidentally, may ganyan na po tayo mismo sa Page 1 ng thread).

Yup those are the steps. :) http://www.symbianize.com/showpost.php?p=4214748&postcount=1784

Friends,

My suggestion is for you to learn how to install GRUB in a dedicated partition (see Page 1: http://www.symbianize.com/showpost.php?p=4224426&postcount=1846). This way, hindi na kayo ma-hassle tuwing nag-remove kayo ng isang OS sa isang dual- or multi-boot configuration.

yeap, meron na po sa first page niyan, and I am really grateful for those TUTs sir topet. what I just did was to learn my own way (with the help of googling and those english language TUTs). Yung sa grub2 nga po sir Topet, I'm trying to study about it more technical. Also in reality, before I am googling outside, I am making sure na meron na dito na TUT para kung sakaling sumakit ulo ko, takbo agad dito, tsaka para may helpful guide.

No worries, walang masama mag-share. :) Tama ang ginawa ninyo sa pag-research. ;)

Just boot up your computer via Live USB...Boot Repair ang pangalan ng app. :)

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

I would suggest kay Drupin to try this also before deciding to remove Ubuntu.

Naglog na lang ulit ako sa Ubuntu gamit yung live disc tapos back up files then reformat pc ahaha.

The script is supposed to add a user in the terminal.

Meron na po akong script. Pero after nun, how can I bind it with the browser? I do get this idea that it should be configured sa pref.js ng browser. Tama po ba? or is there other ways?

You may want to try visiting the Linux Programming Thread. :)

ts baka may bayanihan linux kayo jan? badly needed po pls

Medyo dead na ito and no longer maintained. It also contains older versions of OS components. Is there any reason why you want to use this?

Nice info... thanks for this

Nice share ts. Thanks!

Glad you liked it. :)

I see.

If you would ask for opinion/advice, ang maibibigay ko siguro is to present something newer and well-maintained na Linux-based OS. I have a copy pero I have to upload it pa.

Since it's no longer maintained, ang problem ninyo is for example, gusto ninyong i-present kung paano mag-update ng repositories...ang problem na ma-encounter ninyo is hindi na maintained ang online server ng repositories so you will not be able to demonstrate how to, for example, download/install an app via the Package Manager....how to run "apt-get update" (since down ang server), etc.

Agree po ako kay sir. Ang DOST po yata ay naghohost na ng Ubuntu repos, so I presume na dun na po sila lumipat. You might as well look at that, or Linux Mint, para po plug and play.

Search for "Programming with Linux" sa Search box sir.

Both is okay. But my personal "best practice" is: clean slate. As in back up all needed files, reformat or delete ng partition, and then install newer version. :)

But beware, hindi ako mahilig magpalit ng Ubuntu ko (every 6 months may nire-release ang Ubuntu), so my best practice may or may not be suitable for all. I usually stick with "LTS" (Long-Term Support) releases, so yung una ko is Ubuntu 10.04 pa, then deretso sa 12.04.
