Hello po. D po ako familliar sa linux. Tanong ko lng po pag ginamit ko bang OS is ubuntu, required pa ba drivers ng pc? like graphics? Compatible po ba ang drivers ng windows sa ubuntu? Tska libreoffice po ba na file, ma open din sa ms office? Thanks po.

If you want a lightweight desktop interface para hindi gaano kasakit sa consumption sa PC mo, you can try KDE and Xfce. But default interface ng Mint will do compare sa Unity ng Ubuntu.
Mint is based on Ubuntu aside from their Debian versions. Kahit pa-piliin mo ko sa 2, pareho ko silang gagamitin

Yes they support docx files sa Libre office, yun nga lang may parts ng MS Office na hindi compatible kay Libre and/or kailangan mo pa i-arrange pa mga pics or texts which is a bit hassle.

KDE = mabigat ito sir, hindi lightweight.
Xfce = this was advertised to be lighter than the default Desktop Environment of Ubuntu (GNOME and Unity), pero based on benchmarks and tests, lumalabas na mas mabigat pa ito kaysa sa GNOME and Unity.
LXDE = ito yung magaang Desktop Environment (of course there are others, pero I just limited the list to the official DE's for Ubuntu...actually LXDE was/is still aiming to be recognized as part of the official list of Ubuntu's Desktop Environments but currently it is not)

This is correct. Sa madaling salita, kung ang Ubuntu ay ang "newbie's Linux distro", mas pina-"newbie" pa nang bahagya ang Mint. That's how most reviewers/bloggers say it, at least.
Ang pinakamasakit na transition ay itong office apps.
Actually you can get along well with MS Office with WINE kung regular user lang naman ng MS Office. Pero kung medyo power user na, yung tipong gumagamit ng "Macros" sa MS Office, ayun ang masaklap. MS Office files that contain Macros will crash when you run it under Wine. In my case kasi nagamit ako ng Macros, so too bad for me. No choice; I either do dual-booting or I run MS Windows in a virtualized environment (i.e. VirtualBox). All the other nuisance/hassles like pictures, etc. eh medyo manageable.

Pagdating sa mga tanong na
1. "Ano ang magandang Desktop Environment", or...
2. "Ubuntu vs. Mint: which is better?"
...wala po kayong makukuhang sagot na lalamang. Kasi po ang predominant reason nga mga users dito is "personal preference" lamang. Lalo na po kung medyo maganda naman ang system specs ninyo, hindi kayo malilimitahan sa choices. Meaning wala pong masama kung ano ang preference or gusto ng bawat isa. Para lang yang tanong na "what is the best color?" Obviously wala pong "best color".
So for example, kung favorite ko ang blue, hindi komo yun ang favorite color ko eh yun ang best color. Ganun din sa iba. 
Ganyan po ang Linux, napakaraming choices. Dahil free software siya (sa usaping LInux: free as in freedom, hindi free as in libre/walang bayad), eh may "freedom of choice" tayo.

hi po.. pede bang makisali dito sa ubuntu.. windows user here... mukang mapapasabak ako sa ubuntu... i have an assignment from my boss na mag install ng virtual machine under ubuntu OS...
Balak ko munang i format pc ko at palitan ng ubuntu.. praktis muna bago actual.. tanong tanong na lng po ako sa inyo.. for now DL ko muna ung OS....

di ko po mainstall yung broadband ko gamit ang ubuntuhelp please.. SMART po Broadband ko,,
di na po need ng dashboard po..gawa ka lang ng bagong mobile data connection po..tapos ilagay mo nalang dun yung access point ng smart which is internet na nakaDefault na sa ubuntu..tapos connect mo na..

There's no need to install the dashboard in Ubuntu.
Just go to Network Connections -> Mobile Broadband -> Add
or when you plug your usb device Ubuntu shall detect it. And just follow the guide provided by Ubuntu.
After the setup; in the upper right corner of your system merong network icon (arrow up down or parang antenna). Click it and select the name of the connection you've created and enabled it. You are now connected.
On your next use no need to setup it again. Yong config mo is already stored. So you have to plug your usb nalang then enabled it in the network connection icon.
Drawback nito is if you want to register to promos of smart need mo e.saksak sa phone yong sim then dun ka mag.register then back to your broadband. Someone mention somewhere about Wammu/Gammu na maka.view daw cya ng messages sa broadband device. I haven't successfully use it though, but you can try to use it.
I'm only using Wammu to manage my mobile phones messages and sending message from my computer to my phone.

Meron na po kasi akong isang partition which is where nakalagay mga files ko. ayaw ko po sana iformat yung D:. Yung Free ko lng po is 70gb which is yung C: ko. D ko po alam kung paano gumawa ng extended partition for root, home etc.

BackTrack is actually based in Ubuntu. It is a special-use Linux Distro (special-use = meaning ginagamit ito for specific purpose...this is not designed for general use).
Kumbaga, ang mga *buntu (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubunty, MythBuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, Zorin OS, etc. etc.) ay pang general-use. Ang mga tipong gagamit ng BackTrack ay yung mga may specific needs (hackers, Penetration Testers, Information Security Officers, etc.). Kung general-use lang po (surfing the Internet, games, Office apps), hindi kailangang gumamit ng BackTrack.
Pansin ko lang sir, medyo nag-iinquire kayo sa medyo maraming Linux distro. Just to share, there are hundreds of Linux-based distros available. Baka hindi na kayo makapag-try sa kakaisip ng gagamitin.
I would recommend to start with Ubuntu or Linux Mint, to get you started with Linux. Friendly advice lang. Saka na ninyo isipin yung iba pa, once medyo naging proficient na kayo at may specific needs kayo.
