hi, how can i insert/update records on the sql server when my scenario is like this : my sql server is located in makati and my application is installed in other areas (ex. pasay, pangasinan, davao etc.). im at a lost, dont know where to start, any help would be greatly appreciated, im a soul that need to be pointed to the right direction

dyan na po papasok ang distributed applications mo

best direction is go for web interface at hosted mo sa makati ang webserver at database

that is kung may budget ang company mo

pwede rin i pa host sa 3rd party hosting services, make sure pwede isama ang sql server, pero mahirap i manage to kung wala sayo ang database
for that kelangan mo gawan ng web application.
at dapat may internet lahat ng branches mo

kung desktop app naman
ang approach na ginawa ko ay gumamit ng .NET REMOTING to access WEBSERVICES over the internet
so i have a desktop application pero connected sa internet just like yahoo messenger,kita mo exe sya diba.

for that gagawa ka ng webservices na i host sa hosting site kasama ng database

another option kung walang budget talaga is to go offline
upload nalang via ftp or email ang updates

well the best is to use SQLServer Replication
yan ay kung afford ang license ng sql server, meron competent na db admin at may mabilis na online connections preferably VPN among branches

boss eric ano po advantage ng ng isang application na meron meron capability ng SMS?

gusto ko po kac mapag-aralan para sa darating kong thesis..

sir, pareho po kami ng sitwasyon ni stinger98 ... ang pinag kaiba lang ay , ang gusto ng company ay nasa Main Office lang ang Application pati na rin po ang server, at i-aaccess nlang ng ibang branches via remote desktop(naka intranet po sila) .. pwd po ba un ?? pano pag nagkasabay ang ibang branches sa pag open ng Application at nagkasabay rin sila sa pag update ng server ??

nalilito po tuloy ako kung anong twag sa app na ginagawa ko (stand-alone or networked) ... sa isip ko po kac, stand-alone xa kasi nasa isang computer lang xa, at networked kac maari nmn xang i-access ng ibang branch ... :noidea:

pag may SMS ang app mo e di pwede sya mag send/recieve ng SMS

pero hawg ka gagawa ng MSWORD style na app tapos may SMS
i design mo mabuti at tignan kung vital sa app ang feature na yan

yes pwede yan, nakalimutan ko, remote desktop

ok yan kung mataas ang bandwidth mo kasi kasama dyan ang image ng desktop na dadaan sa network

at of course dapat malakas na server para sa maraming users

wala naman effect pag nagkasabay, basta unique na users lahat ang mag login sa server

nag implement na ako neto pero sa bangko kaya wala problem ang bandwidth

sir, wala na ba akong kelangan pang baguhin sa settings o configuration ng desktop application ko para madaming users ang pwdeng gumamit ng sabay-sabay ?? 'di po ba xa mag e-error ng "Your Application is already running." ?? ...

di yan nag eerror sa instance kasi ibat ibang users naman ang mag login sa server

may kanya kanya silang domain sa loob ng server

yes yun nga, Windows Server ka.
meron ka dun Terminal Services,
nandun ang app mo,
tapos sa separate na server ang db mo dapat

pero remember merong license ang Terminal Services
i search mo nalang sa micro$oft
