Tanong ko lang po sir topet and to everyone na nakakaalam. Nag-install po kasi ako ng playonlinux at gusto ko subukan yung mga nakalagay na games dun (ex. GTA san andreas). Mag-iinstall po sana ako mismo dun sa playonlinux, ang problema ko po kung pano ilocate ang location ng installer. Eh yung installer po nakanetwork lang tru DVD drive. naka-share lang po yung buong media drive sa network..

at itatanong ko na rin po kung pede ba i-run at install ko nalang yung executable file tru wine without opening the playonlinux, i mean right click the executable file to be install at run sa wine? paki-intindi nalang sir if mali yung explanation ko.

Yes, you can just use Wine. PlayonLinux is just a front-end application for Wine. Isipin mo lang na parang "Wine manager" si PlayonLinux. Nabuo ang PlayonLinux because there are certain applications that work only with certain versions of Wine. So para convenient, ginawa ang PlayonLinux. Still, PlayonLinux really uses Wine. Na-explain ko na ito sa isang tutorial natin na naka-link sa Page 1.

Okay, noted. Di pa naman considered as heavy usage ang ganito.

Mga gaano katagal sa estimate mo, bago siya finally nag-shutdown? Hm, medyo maraming puwedeng cause ng slow shutdown and not all of them are necessarily caused by Ubuntu itself...unfortunately hindi kita mabibigyan ng direct answer. Perhaps if you can describe the problem a bit more para mas ma-visualize ko, makakatulong yun. Pero right now I think try mo muna mag-run ng Update Manager to keep your system updated, also keep your hardware drivers updated (especially the video driver kung naka-NVIDIA ka), as well as make sure you are using the latest kernel version to boot Ubuntu. Another possibility is that your copy of Ubuntu may be the one causing it, so you may look at the option of downloading again from the official site of Ubuntu. Eto lang sa ngayon ang mga naiisip ko na puwede kong ibigay sayo kasi medyo broad ang scope ng problem na "slow shutdown". Also...clean/fresh install ba yan ng Ubuntu, or did you upgrade from a previous/lower version?



Paanong reboot? As in reboot, or nag-start yung PC then after a few seconds namamatay?



Try mong gamitin ito para mas detailed ang makikita mong specs ng computer mo (for Windows OS): http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html. For Ubuntu naman, download and install mo sa Ubuntu Software Center ang "hardinfo" and "sysinfo".



Ang isang question na pahabol ko pala: do you update your Ubuntu system regularly via the Update Manager? Kasi ang naiisip ko so far, is baka luma na yung kernel version na gamit mo. Try typing this in Terminal:

uname -r

para makita mo yung version ng Kernel na gamit mo. Yung sakin, ang kernel version ko is: 2.6.32-26-generic-pae (hindi necessary na generic-pae ang kailangan mo. Kaya ako naka-generic-pae is because I have 4GB of RAM...ito ang kernel version na kailangan para magamit ang 4GB RAM kahit naka-Ubuntu 32-bit ka).

Ah. You mean may router kang sarili? Kasi sabi mo nakaka-connect ka sa Internet, pero Windows lang. Puwede mo bang i-type sa terminal ito:

lspci

Try nating mapagana ang wireless card mo. Hanapin mo lang yung line item na nagsasabi ng details tungkol sa wireless card mo, then copy-paste mo dito. Ganito ang example:

Pero anyway, check mo pa rin ang tutorial ng Wine sa Page 1 kung balak mong i-download ang mga files mula sa Windows. Hanapin mo lang sa Page 1 ang:

Kuya, attach ko na lang po spec ng laptop ko, alam niyo naman po problem ko diba? i want to install wine pero ang problem di ako makaconnect sa network, @ kuya cedar ang binigay niyo pong package, nangangailangan pa rin ng connection para sa mga plugins niya kaya di rin nagwork

kaso, di ko po maintall.. what i just did is that i double clicked the setup.py (which is told by the read me file)..

wala pa rin po...




another one, i tried to [kalikot] the smart bro, together with [kalikot]ing the network connection in ubuntu, nagconnect na po, kaso yung ultrasurf ay ayaw gumana. may wine na naman eh.. tsaka gamit ko rin yung direct ip ng smart, which is 10.102.61.238:80 sa firefox, di nagloload eh...

itatry ko lang bukas, yung may enaf time ako.. try ko kung makakakonek ba talaga.. nagmamadali kasi ako eh, inaantok na..

Assuming Ubuntu 10.04 ka...when I checked the link, it showed 3 versions/variants of the .tar file. Aling yung na-download mo? Yung .orig ba? Try mo kaya yung pangalawa? Kasi nung ni-check ko sa Ubuntu Software Center, I think yung pangalawa ang ginagamit para sa Ubuntu 10.04 eh. Eto ang mga screenshots.

Great to hear that you're still enjoying Ubuntu. Ako rin nage-enjoy. I'm sure pati yung ibang friends natin dito nage-enjoy din. Minsan nagkaka-problem din ako sa sobrang pagkalikot pero para sa akin yun ang fun part.

I agree sir topet, iba kasi pag nachachallenge ka. Parang ayaw mo tigilan hanggat di mo nareresolve.

BTW nga pala mga ka SB and sir topet, share ko lang po, naresolve ko lang kahapon kung paano iinstall yung pinakalatest na device driver ng VGA(nvidia graphics) coming from nvidia website. Tinira ko na para masubukan

May pinagbasehan ako na link pero di ko sinunod lahat. eto po link kung paano. Hindi naman yan ang problem nun kundi yung x server at nouveau kernel driver lang.

Ang problem ko lang noon eh kung paano i-disabled pansamantala ang x server, at hindi lang yun kelangan mo pa pala idisable ang nouveau kernel driver nya para magtuloy sa installation. Gusto ko sana uli subukan ang ibang method kasi di pa ko kuntento sa ginawa ko kasi may warning before na nagtuloy sa installation pero success naman po..

yan yung mga lumabas sa kanila.. walang installation ang nangyari...

so I tried in the terminal... python setup.py install

kaso ito error..

try ko rin ang sudo apt-get install setup.py, wala pa rin.. (nagbabaka sakali lang po ha...)

sir pwede na ba kahit hindi na install ang libusb para sa usb switch ayaw kasi mainstall palaging nageerror ang OS ko ubuntu 10.04...

nabasa ko rin yung mga steps na binigay mo para mapagana yung modem(*globe tattoo broadband USB huawei E1552 openline)...

i also tried using the installer pero wala dun yung usb switch na installer via ubuntu software update installer na nakaindicate din sa mga instructions ninyo

help po sa problema ko, thanks in advance...
