Hi guys,

I started this thread to help everyone wanting a new computer. All you need to do is post the following:
Code:
budget:
usage:

other miscellaneous requirements:

*If to be used for gaming,. please indicate the games you wish to play.

The prices i will be using are those that come from major shops in gilmore and also PCexpress and others... The prices will only reflect that of which on the date of my post.

also please put your requests in this format:

Processor:
Motherboard:
RAM:

Video Card:

Hard Drive:
Optical Drive:

Power Supply:
Casing:

monitor:

Accessories:

please indicate (at least)the size of the hard disk desired, and also what you need/have/prefer.

Thanks.

How to get to Gilmore:
commuting... From EDSA get on the MRT to Cubao and take the other train and get off at Gilmore station. so easy.
driving... Via aurora is the easiest way from EDSA. anyway, just ask na lang cos i dunno where you'll be coming from.

An example post would be as follows:
Hi. Please help me buy a computer for my son. He will be using it mainly for school and some games. He likes to play Dota and L4D. Our budget for the PC would be 20K. We already have a printer, monitor and speakers. Our monitor is a 17" CRT monitor. My son said he prefers 1gb video card.

Thank you.

Re: [ADVISE]Help you build/choose/upgrade your Computer

Friends,

My upgrade parts have arrived via delivery, courtesy of PCNetmiles. :) Taking pictures now. ;) I'll also take pictures of my current computer setup, and then a set of pictures after setting up (before-after comparison).

By the way I also purchased a CPU Cooler (Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus). I heard that I have to apply some thermal compound but I don't know how. They say that there is a correct way of applying this thermal compound. I'll try if I can get some video tutorials from YouTube.

midcard e.g. a evga gt 240 512mb 128bit ddr5. a store here at angeles city pampanga sells it for 2500 lang.:)

wala problema kay pcnetmiles. usually same price lang sa gilmore yan. and you can make tawad pa. ehehe.

Hey guys. :)

So I just got back from SM North Annex to purchase a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus for PHP1,500. PC Hub is selling it for PHP1,350 but the PHP150 difference is okay.

For the rest of the parts, I had a phone conversation with Jorel, the store owner of PC Net Miles Eton Branch (near Robinson's Galleria). This is what I got:

1. Casing, Thermaltake TT Docker - PHP3,200
2. Video Card, (Palit) Nvidia GTX 560 Ti Sonic - PHP10,900
3. PSU, Antec TP (True Power) 750 Watts - PHP4,500. Unfortunately they ran out of stock for the 650 Watts at PHP3,500. Also initially I was planning to get the 550 Watts for PHP2,500 but I had to consider my plans to upgrade to a motherboard that will support a better CPU (such as Intel Core i7 or so). And a possibility (kung tinopak ako) for trying out an SLI configuration. So for now, napagastos ako pero if I push through with my plans, tipid din siya in the long run.

Jorel was very accommodating and courteous. And based on my conversation with him he's not the type na ipipilit ang mahal na price para lang magkaroon ng sales/benta. He seems to know what he's talking about (good product knowledge) and gives sound advices/recommendations based on his customers' needs. Good review for PCNetMiles Eton Branch (Ortigas)! He even offered to ship the parts to me for free, and will deliver a TipidPC Magazine for free as well. :)

wow. :) nice one. maganda talaga yung antec for its price. :)
pcnetmiles is one of our sponsors. ^_^ sana sinabi mo na you've been summon/recommend there by RBA.:) ehehe. para nagkaroon ka pa ng discount. hihi.
anyway, i think ok na ang build mo. :)
if you plan to build i7 (sandybridge) i think mas maganda if bili ka na din ng mems now. meron isang seller na corsair dominator 1600cas8 na price is 2500.:)

Re: [ADVISE]Help you build/choose/upgrade your Computer

hehe
salamat
update ko lang kau guys
paauwi nako.
Tas bumili narin ako avr 200php at led fan 120php.
Next target ko vc and led monitor na 20''

wow if you get the antec tp550 for 2k. then thats a good buy.:)

i didnt know na mas mahal ang core2duo sa core2quad. maybe you're referring to other quadcore. (ex.: amd athlon x4)
as for your query, mahal ang core2duo (socket lga775) dahil obsolete na ito. which means marketing strategy na din para sa mga nagdedemand ng old parts. less numbers manufactured = less demand = more pricey.

forget about it. go to Gigabyte 990fx-d3 @ 6k din.:)
If youre thinking its not compatible, well good for you na naka-amd ka. am3+ mobos supports am3 cpu.:)

Wow good to hear that. @_@
On applying thermal compound -- a pea size sa middle then lagay mo na ung hsf on top.:) that it.

**if naisip mo ganon kalaki ung pea size >> ung smiley na to.:yipee:

Thanks for the reassurance that I got the right deal. :) I'll also consider your suggestion (for future-proofing)...baka nga naman biglang magmahal ang price ng RAM na binanggit mo kung hindi pa ako bumili early on.

Wow good to hear that. @_@

Hm, okay I'll try my best. In case I screw up on applying the thermal "paste", okay lang na ulitin tama? By the way I'm online via Yahoo Messenger again. :) Nga pala I wasn't able to get the Gelid Extreme. :( I was able to purchase another brand pero I'm not sure kung puwede na siya sa socket LGA775 na Quad Core Q8200. I bought OCZ Freeze (PHP500) and Cooler Master High Performance (PHP300)...not sure alin sa dalawa ang okay.

I just finished my "photo shoot" session with the new parts (i.e. unboxing). Grabe, haha! It's a nice hobby (although it's an expensive hobby, lolz...).

Re: [ADVISE]Help you build/choose/upgrade your Computer

(hoping) anyway, mas maganda na bili ka ng bago or palitan mo na. you can sell your cougar to 3k. halos bagsak presyo mga 2nd hand cougar sa tpc because of the hardwaresecrets review. :)

Here's an idea. Pede mo ipa-RMA ang CM series mo. Usually if you go to PCtrends then yung CM mo magiging CMX na. then you can sell it na 3k-3.5k (rush sale) then buy the Antec TP650. (if meron pa stock)

If wala then go to FSP epsilion 600w.:)

Other reasons sa problem mo: Pedi din motherboard problem. :) Pede din usb cable of your hdd. pero if you use 2 hdd na that have the same problem then chances nga pedi din psu.

Tips: (1)try mo ilipat ang videocard 2-6pin connector mo sa ibang modular of the cougar. why?

**im not familiar with rails of the cougar. not sure if apat ba. kaya if mabigat ang rail sa isa, di balance. :) much better pa din ang single rail or dual rain. (IMHO)

sir villain, many thanks!,

nag try ako ng minor changes last night, i tried to return it to current condition before ko pa binili yung 500gb internal (ok naman kasi sakin yung mga external ko dati), since may OS naman 320gb ko sir dun muna ko nag copy and nag games still same result.:upset:

maraming salamat ulit! :praise:

Re: [ADVISE]Help you build/choose/upgrade your Computer

Hey Allain,

Thanks again for the chat conversation earlier. It was very helpful in ensuring that I will be doing the right things sa pagkabit ng mga new parts sa computer ko.

Grabe natagalan ako sa pag-upgrade...pero it was fun. :) Kaya pala maraming naa-addict sa pag-upgrade. More than just getting better performance or keeping up-to-date, masarap magkumpuni at magbutingting, puwede nga talaga siyang pang-hobby (a very expensive hobby, hehehe). Natagalan ako kasi halos each step of the whole replacement process kinunan ko ng picture, naubusan pa ng battery ang camera ko so I needed to recharge. :D This is my first time din kasi to upgrade a computer on my own so I really took a lot of pictures dahil memorable sa akin ito. Plus, I am planning to come up with a write-up/documentation na baka makatulong din sa iba...at least may pictures pa.

By the way, yung sa pictures na makikita ninyo, medyo magulo yung mga cables sa loob. Hindi ko pa naasikaso ang cable management kasi at this point inasikaso ko muna yung testing (na dapat gagana siya at walang sira), so right now under "battery-test" ang computer ko. So far so good, running well...and indeed the temperature improvements are very noticeable. In my previous setup, yung Quad Core ko (Q8200) naglalaro sa 70-ish degrees Celsius. So I guess mangyayari talaga yun sa mga thermal compound so indeed it's a good idea to regularly replace it.

Yung video card ko at that time, 9500GT pero halos laging nasa 52 degrees kahit idle. Same temperature as the 9500 GT, pero considering overclocked model ito, not bad na. :)

About power consumption naman...well I actually purchased a 750 Watt PSU (Antec TP 750). I also purchased a watt-meter (Omni brand, you can get it at Ace Hardware sa mga SM branches for PHP800+). Pansin ko lang when I was doing benchmarking (bale intensive graphics benchmarking)...naglalaro sa halos 300W. Surfing the net, naglalaro sa 150W. So totoo nga ang sinasabi ni Allain. Sa totoo lang, kaya ng setup ko na mabuhay sa 550W pero I just considered na mag-upgrade din kasi ako ng motherboard and processor (at baka mag-SLI pa ako kapag napag-tripan ko) so okay na ang 750W for now. Pero as it is, hindi siya magiging sulit sa current setup ko. To be honest, yung purchase ko ng 750W may be considered as a waste of money. Now, kung bakit ko kinuha ang 750 is a different story, I have my reasons pero I am aware na kung sa current setup ko titingnan, wasted money siya (for now, hehe...but I plan to upgrade in the future).

pa request naman po ng specs for cpu only worth 10k for gaming, amd processor...ung kaya po ung mga games ngayon...thx :help:

may kinalaman ung extension.. kasi if you buy a cheap extension may tendency na mababa ang daloy ng power. try mo muna ilagay direct ang 24pin.

maraming salamat ulit! :praise:

for net cafe, hindi na advisable ang quadcore. dual core is ok.:) tri-core is fine. tapos partner it with a 240 512mb ddr5. +++ a 80+ efficiency psu.

wow i was surprise sa temps mo. ehehe.:) anyhow, yung penetrator sa intake talaga. wag mo na lagay sa push 212+ masyado malakas ang fan.:) better dun sa baba, sa tabi ng psu.:)

anyway, as for the cable management, use cable ties. para mas magandang tignan.:) Di naman waste ang 750w. ok na yan.:) ehehe. Go for sandybridge na. tapos dun na tayo magOverclock. ehehe.

pa request naman po ng specs for cpu only worth 10k for gaming, amd processor...ung kaya po ung mga games ngayon...thx :help:

kaya ba itaas ng 15k?

Ah okay, nyak nilagay ko yung Silverstone Penetrator as an additional fan sa Cooler Master CPU Cooler.

By the way, I have finished uploading the pictures of my upgrade session. Sharing to you guys. Enjoy. :) https://picasaweb.google.com/topet2...authkey=Gv1sRgCMu8waCxmLqjrwE&feat=directlink

wow that was a nice case.:) palitan mo lang mga led lights to red. all red ka na.:)
btw if maganda naman ang penetrator sa push air then kahit di mo na tanggalin. i cant comment kasi di ko marinig if maingay ang 2 fans push and pulling air.

try mo tanggalin ung pull air if its the same temps. if it is, then yun nalang lagay mo sa baba(intake).

overall you got a nice rig. konting cable management nalang. and for sure kickass na yan.

Re: [ADVISE]Help you build/choose/upgrade your Computer

On a netcafe mababa lang ang kita mo. as much as possible kailangan mo ng mababa din na wattage na items. dual-core and 240 ddr5 can play latest games sa 1366x768 on mid-high settings.
25pesos?

Go for x3 and a 240 ddr5. adding a fsp bluestorm pro is a must para mas efficient. tapos hanap ka ng case na maganda.:)

@admin

Re: [ADVISE]Help you build/choose/upgrade your Computer

@villain

ok thanks sir actually di ko kinonsider kasi ung consumption ng rig hehe which is mali nga nmn considering i have expenses to pay...

so il be having x3 440 for procie and gt 240 for the vc...

any shop sir u can suggest sa manila... im from ilocos kasi...

again sir TIA...

Re: [ADVISE]Help you build/choose/upgrade your Computer

where's the processor? if you have a 22" solve ka na sa 6790. if gusto mo ng mas mataas na framerate then 6850.

:) pero like u said. mas maganda ata pag mataas framerate. haha so ok lang sir? pwede parin? 6850?
