Ah the never ending debate about a God or lack thereof. :p Now let's all just immerse ourselves learning some worthwhile subjects like Quantum Mechanics perhaps. Now that a far more fascinating subject than this exercise in futility. You don't have to be a physicist to appreciate and be mind blown by this weird quantum world. The condescending attitude of some the "enlightened" and the narrow mindedness of some of the "religious". Just two sides of the same idiotic coin. You can start with the double-slit experiment or the quantum entanglement and let's get this ball rolling. Enough with this nonsense

You can say this again when men who claim to represent god ascend the thrones of power once more and decree that you cannot discuss your beloved quantum mechanics and quantum entanglement because they go against the tenets of determinacy and absolutes by the church. Let's not have a short memory of what the forces of superstition could do to this earth. Let's not take for granted the freedom that we have now to think freely. It did not come as a free lunch—not by a long shot. This attitude insults the many who have risked their lives in the past and indeed even dying by the stakes or by the swords in the thousands, if not by the millions just so we could have the freedoms that we currently enjoy. And let's not forget this is a thread for atheists. Theists come here for debate without asking, though that happens very rarely now, not the other way around.

Mexican priest with HIV who raped 30 young girls absolved by church

attachment.php

The Catholic Church has allowed priests accused of sexually abusing children in the United States and Europe to
relocate to poor parishes in South America, a yearlong GlobalPost investigation found in 2015.
(Source: US priests accused of sex abuse get a second chance by relocating to South America / GlobalPost).

The Catholic Church has acquitted an HIV-infected priest who has admitted to raping close to 30 young girls between the ages of five and 10 years old.

According to a bombshell report, which appeared in the Spanish-language news site Urgente24.com, the priest, Jose Garcia Ataulfo, was absolved of any wrongdoing by the Archdiocese of Mexico.

Ataulfo has admitted to sexually assaulting indigenous young girls from Oaxaca, a state in southern Mexico known for its large indigenous population.

The priest has yet to face any criminal charges, most likely due to the significant influence that the Catholic Church wields in Mexico, particularly in areas populated by indigenous ethnic groups.

According to Urgente24.com, only two of the over two dozen rape victims have come forward to denounce the acquittal.

The website Anonymous Mexico reported that the mother of one of the victims asked to meet with Pope Francis in Rome, but she was rebuffed by the Vatican which wrote a letter stating that it considered the matter closed.

Since assuming the papacy in 2013, Pope Francis has said that the Church would remove bishops who cover up sex crimes committed by priests against children.

Russia Today reported this year that new church laws would enable the Vatican to strip clergymen of their positions.

Sexual abuse of minors by priests – and the subsequent cover-ups by bishops and other Church officials – have been widespread in many countries, including the United States.

The issue was thrust into the national spotlight in 2002, when the Boston Globe revealed the extent to which the local archdiocese shielded abusive priests from being exposed to the public even though it knew they posed a danger to young parishioners.

The Globe exposé, which detailed abuse cases that numbered in the thousands over a span of several decades, inspired other victims to come forward, leading to an avalanche of lawsuits and criminal prosecutions.

Not only did the floodgates open in the US, but the Catholic Church was also forced to confront cases in other countries, including Mexico.

In 2004, the Vatican re-opened a prior investigation against Marcial Maciel, who was accused of sexually abusing minors as well as fathering six children by three different women.

Though the allegations spanned decades and the extent of his crimes were known to church officials, it was only in 2006 that the Vatican forced Maciel, one of its most powerful clergymen, to retire from active ministry.

Last time they were citing Church anchoring hopes on the old form of Big Bang Theory—before Inflation Model came along and connected with the physics of the vacuum accounting for creation of everything from seemingly nothing.

Karma is the cornerstone of many Indian-Oriental religious-belief systems. Balance of nature says that ecological systems work on some idea of feedback, self-correcting system, much like the Gaia hypothesis. New Age followers usually subscribe to both ideas. Many atheists identify with this too—essentially spiritual movements across the globe reminiscent of old traditions under new interpretations. :)

It's a platonic thing....

I have fond memories of these critters in my youth, too. Spider hunting, spider matches with all kinds of bets. We even made money selling to big-time town gamblers.... :)

Why Humans Should Now Place Religions Under Extreme Contempt

attachment.php

ALL OF THE MAJOR organized, official religions around the world are mythologies. They all fail the test of truth. They don’t stand up to logic, scientific scrutiny or even basic common sense. They contradict reality. They’re demonstrably false.

Religion isn’t just a flawed theoretical hypothesis of how or why the universe began. It’s not an innocuous, silly idea that’s okay to believe in if you really like it. It’s a failed social experiment. There have been, are and will always be negative consequences to believing in a world view that isn’t based on reason or fact. On an individual level it drives people insane and makes them act immoral. It makes them waste their life apologizing and beating themselves and everyone around them up over things that don’t matter. It prevents them from thinking clearly about what does matter, and prayer cripples their ability to change their lives or their environment for the better. The universe is an intimidating place without a holy book to lean on, but your life will hurt worse if you lean on a broken crutch. Religion will lower your quality of life, and nothing will ever come from your suffering.

Not only does believing in mythology waste your own potential. It wastes humanity’s potential. Large groups of irrational people are the most dangerous force in the world. If their shared delusion is based on the premise that the world can be divided into the unquestionably righteous and the inhumanely evil then there will always be holocausts and jihads.

As long as people believe they can earn favor in the afterlife by paying a self-proclaimed spokesman of God, then people will throw away their life savings to line the pockets of snake oil salesmen, and as long as those snake oil salesmen can profit from building bigger, more hypnotic churches, then charity money will be wasted on monuments to mythology and greed while real people starve and die in the streets.

Institutionalized insanity doesn’t deserve respect. It deserves pity and fear. The call to action this raises isn’t to attack the victims of religion. The cure to ignorance is knowledge, and the cure for irrationality is reason. The internet is already crowd-sourcing the task of breaking down how/why religion is mythology and educating the entire world with that information. The internet is teaching people to value curiosity, intellectual independence and objective thinking, and those values stand the test of truth. Once someone’s mind is switched on, it’s very hard to turn it off. There will always be people who believe things that aren’t real even in the face of overwhelming evidence, but the internet is quickly bringing the era of mythology to an end. When humanity’s collective mind isn’t shackled with primitive mythologies it will be able to fulfill its full potential.

^ Spiders ain't my thing. They're quite scary.

---
Some people can't accept a subtle form of criticism of their big claim.
Jesus, make sure you understand the basics of what you're saying.
Whoever you are in the real world. -_-

^ The ones we collected for play were okay. Others—big ones with red spots in the middle and massive spanning webs and horns like devils come down to earth—could be deceptively scary but surprisingly meek to touch.

Stahp!

I was careful during my trip to Australia. I might step into a Sydney Funnelweb -_-

^ Australian spiders are a different matter altogether tho. I heard they're responsible for the extinction of Australia's megafaunas—which means any one of them could swallow you whole ... and that would be just for appetizer or dessert.... lol

Though I favor one venomous spider that can make you erect for an entire week or a day, yes?
