cherry mobile flare S100 wifi issue

hello.... I have an old cherry mobile S100, which I cleaned out to give to my 7yr old son. but when I did the recovery, the wifi is stuck to "turning on". I waited more than 10 minutes but no progress. can anyone who has some expertise on this old amazing phone show me a way to fix it? it would really be a great help, so I can finally give this unit to my son, who is now using my phone to play games. a customize rom would be ok too. I can follow instructions in flashing it and if there are links for some apps I need to download, would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.
