Symptoms that commonly occur with back pain include back stiffness, muscle spasms, and tenderness over the back muscles. Symptoms that indicate a serious cause for back pain include severe back pain that shoots down the leg, leg numbness, leg weakness, groin numbness, and difficulty urinating. Additional symptoms that indicate a serious condition include fainting, excessive sweating, high fever, abdominal pain, and chest pain.

Treatment depends on the underlying cause of the back pain. Back pain caused by a back strain or back sprain can be treated with rest, cold compresses, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain control. Additional treatment for back pain may include physical therapy, narcotic pain medications, and ultrasound therapy. Surgery may be required to treat serious causes of back pain.

Consult your local Doctor.
