Shortly after the Nintendo 3DS handheld hit retail in Europe, a few 3DS owners have reported getting an error message that leaves them unable to do anything with the handheld.

The error, dubbed the "black screen of death", leaves the 3DS with the following message shown on the botton screen: "A problem has occured, hold down the power button and restart the system. Contact your local support center if the problem persist".

Nintendo has since responded to these black screen reports with advice that 3DS owners first update their handhelds to the latest firmware release before ringing up Nintendo support. here's the company's released statement:

"Our recommendations are that if anyone is experiencing any problems with their Nintendo 3DS console, we recommend that in the first instance they download and install the latest system update, now available online. If the problems still persist we recommend they contact their local Nintendo Customer Service centre to investigate the problem."

Dayumn launch sickness ng 3DS ampangit. BSOD. haha. Hintay pa tayo mga 4 months mga ka-sb bago mamili para matanggal nila kinks sa system. :P

Oks lang yan basta nakaoff ung wifi, once kasi inon mu yun may chance na magkabsod,may instance na wala ka talagang makikitang screen sa ilalim thua bsod nga,lol

...chances are, yan ung mga gumamit ng flashcarts sa 3DS nila. maybe Nintendo has worked up something where if you use a flashcart, the 3DS collects info about it, maybe sending it over wifi discreetly. next thing you know, you got bricked.

or maybe it's a failsafe of sorts. if the unit detects a flashcart, it'll go haywire.

just so you know, flashcart use VOIDS the warranty, as you're using a non-Nintendo product, just like using non-Nintendo accessories can void your warranty too (even screen protectors, if you end up with screen problems).
