Again, Tank War 3D has possibilities. Game play will keep you on your toes, graphics are a little on the basic side but nice, and with sixty missions you have a healthy amount of gaming. But the hard to read fonts and annoying ad screen will turn many away.

The app works to reduce storage using the following trick. It fills up your internal storage completely. After that you’ll restart your phone and click on clean phone storage within the app. For quite a number of readers this will free up space on the phone. Again, it works for some and doesn’t for others. When it works the amount it frees up varies.

A new feature in the app Shrink Storage is the “Control Mode”. With this you’re able to protect your device from unwanted storage growth in the “other” section. Using the app you can allocate an amount in your storage and block it from that growth. When you need to use that blocked/reserved space on your device for a new game you’ll just go into Shrink Storage and free up the storage you need for whatever you’re installing.

This isn’t the most elegant solution for addressing the other storage issue, but it’s one of the best available to many of you right now. Especially those of you on non-Lumia devices that haven’t seen much support from your OEMs with this issue.

Shrink Storage is free for Windows Phone 8 users (it wouldn’t do you any good on WP7.x so don’t even complain about it). You can grab it here in the Store, use the QR code below, or swipe to the right in our app.

The lineup of Xbox-enabled Windows Phone 8 games is looking slim for the rest of the year, so Six-Guns came not a moment too soon. The game clocks in at just under 500 megabytes, but as with all Windows Phone 8 games, you’ll need at least four times as much space (approximately two gigabytes) in order to install it.

An interesting facet of Gameloft’s August announcement that you might’ve missed is that Six-Guns will be coming to Windows 8 too! The Windows 8 version will be Xbox-enabled and free, just like this one. Gameloft hasn’t announced a specific release date for the tablet and PC game yet – hopefully it comes sooner rather than later.

How to Sideload Apps
How do I install apps from an SD card?
It's easy to download apps and games from the Windows Phone Store and install them on your phone, but you can also transfer, or sideload, them from an SD card to your phone (if your phone supports an SD card).
To sideload an app or game, you'll need to have an SD card that contains one or more Windows Phone app files, also known as .XAP files. You can download .XAP files to your PC, and then move the files to the phone's SD card.
To download .XAP files from the Windows Phone Store on the web
Open a web browser and go to www.windowsphone.com.
Click Apps + Games, and then click the app you want to download.
Scroll down on the webpage, and then click Download and install manually (below the app requirements and supported languages).
When prompted, save the .XAP file to a location on your computer, SD card, or storage device.
Note
If you download the .XAP file to a location other than an SD card supported by your phone, you'll need to move or copy the file to an SD card to install it on your phone.
For information about moving or copying files using Windows Explorer (called File Explorer in some versions of Windows), go to the Windows website and search in the How-to section.
To install apps and games from your phone's SD card
Insert an SD card that contains one or more .XAP files into your phone.
On Start , tap Store , and then tap SD card.
Note
If you've just inserted the SD card or added the .XAP files, you might need to wait a few minutes before you can access your SD card from the Store.
Select the apps you want, and then tap Install.
Notes
Apps that can be installed are listed under Compatible apps.
You'll need to have the latest version of the .XAP file from the Store on your SD card before you can install it. If it isn't the latest version, it'll be listed under Incompatible apps.
Installed apps appear in the App list and games appear in the Games Hub. Depending on the specific app or game, you'll be able to use them as follows:
Free apps and games can be used immediately.
Paid apps and games that have a trial will be available as a trial version that you can purchase later.
Paid apps and games without a trial must be purchased before you can use them.​
