If you're into modding, installing custom roms, then HTC is for you. Ang balita ko sa Samsung Ace d siya pwde mainstallan basta basta ng custom ROM. May mga nabrick na daw due to that.

processor wise palang HTC Desire lamang na talaga. its Mid-range (Ace) vs High-end (Desire) phone. Luma nga model ng phone namin pero subok na sa panahon..

meron ba sa inyo may desire na nung time na eclair (android 2.1) pa lang yung OS? how was it upgraded OTA to froyo (android 2.2)? yung desire kasi ni misis binili namin froyo na, yung sim nya prepaid na smart. so smart ba magpu-push nung update(gingerbread kung sakali)? or immaterial kung anong carrier mo? or htc southeast asia server ba manggagaling yung update?

I think hindi siya mappush via Carrier. It should come from HTC pa din. The idea lang siguro is due to the OTA (Over The Air) update kaya mo natanong yan bro. Dadaan nga siya sa Smart IF you will update via their 3G network, Otherwise kung thru WIFI okay lang din. The ROM will still come from HTC. :)

much better kung sa wifi.. mas stable connection.. OTA update based sa country (SEA) server ng HTC. Nagtanong na ako kung kapag ang UK ba nauna magkaroon ng update possible din ba mag update ang SEA, sabi nila may mga services daw na for UK only.

salamat po sa update sa htc models po wat do you refer? yun hindi masyado mahal pero the best talaga about battery life po may way na po ba para mapahaba?

HTC Desire syempre isasagot sayo ng mga users dito kasi Desire thread ito e. :p Kidding aside, mura na talaga Desire ngayon lalo at lumabas na ung newer iteration nya na Desire S. Around 17K na lang siya sa mga malls.

On your question about battery life, yes may mga ways na to prolong the battery, pero you need to root your phone. Two apps I am using is SetCPU (where you can set specific CPU Speed for specific phone state, say when screen is locked, you can set lower CPU speed, it turn saving precious battery). And another is JuiceDefender (which is a dedicated app to extend battery life).

I am using both and on normal consumption, my battery can last 2 days. On extreme use, one day.:yipee:

TS, I have install both SetCPU and JuiceDefender. Do you have recommended settings for both apps? Do I just install these apps and let them run?

For SetCPU, I created two profiles, one is when screen is off, I set the Max CPU speed as 806MHZ as compared to the maximum capacity 998MHZ. Pag medyo mas mababa na kasi dyan mabagal na masyado magunlock or kapag nakikinig ka ng music while screen is off medyo nagiging paputol putol ung sound. The other profile is when Battery percentage is down to 30%, same Max speed of 806MHZ.

For JuiceDefender, I'm just using the default Balanced settings.:)

If you have the dough, go for Samsung Galaxy S II. No doubt its one of the top smartphones currently. But if you're new to Android, mas maeenjoy mo if you go with HTC muna. Kasi dito mo maeexperience ung "geeky" part ng Android. :)

sa samsung galaxy series yung Galaxy S katapat ng Desire. but it doesn't have the flash like Desire have. yes, S II is the leading as of the moment. HTC Sensation is still a good choice. If given a chance go for Desire HD. its enough for everyday use.

madagdag ko lang sa tinuran ni ragnarok:
desire > galaxy s --- nung time ng release nila up to around april this year.
galaxy s2 > sensation.

this is according to techradar.
lagi ko din tinitignan yung top 20 mobile phones nila.

next iteration of android (ice cream sandwich), minimum requirement daw dual core?

thanks. so far galaxy s2 talaga ang best android phone.. (ayaw ko lang talaga sa service ng samsung sorry) madaming review na comparison ng 3 (LG 2X, Samsung S2, HTC Sensation) and yes all bet goes to Samsung. I like HTC for its craftsmanship and support.

Ice cream sandwich will be released by Google with its new Google Nexus phone near December. Rumors of its creators are LG and HTC. Then came a news that they will have an AMOLED screen which is very much known for Samsung phones. Processor speed will be between 1.2-1.5GHz Dual Core.

Nice thread for a very nice phone.
Desire user din ako and i decided to root my device... i think na root ko naman for the purpose of flashing my rom kaso sa clockwork recovery nag error ng status 7 yung prompt tapos installation aborted "cant write ###...." yung error, twice akong nag attempt pero same error lang din yung lumabas. Any idea mga sir kung bakit di ko ma flash yung rom ko? TIA!!! more power to this thead!!!

Did you S-OFF your phone? Prereq ata un before you can install custom ROM.

i haven't try s-off siguro yun na lang ang last option ko or nand unlock, yun kasing sinubukan kong custom is non s-off required and yet unsuccessful yung intallation, malapit na kong ma frustrate o ma brick alin man sa dalawa, haha.
sir ryanchan nag s-off ka ba muna b4 flashing rom? swabe ng rom mu ah leedroid yan na ba latest?

hmm.. from what I know hindi kailangan naka S-Off to flash new ROM.. try to clear cache and do it again.. hope it may help you..

As far as I can remember, I S-OFFed first before ako nagflash ng LeeDroid. Kasi clockworkmod na ung recovery ko before ako nagflash e. Madali lang i S-OFF yan, follow the guide in the first post.:) I used the USB bootable mode. May video din yan sa first post.

Yep kakaupdate ko lang into the latest version 3.0.8.2 Gingerbread with Sense 2.1 A2SD+ version. :) So far so good.
