Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aguirre Aquino IV expressed his dismay at the current state/cost of internet connection in the country on his official Facebook account and vowed that he will conduct further investigations to know why the Philippines is lagging behind other neighboring countries.

In response to the report published by ASEAN DNA, the 36-year old senator didn’t mince his words regarding the matter and even went as far as demanding NTC (National Telecommunications Commission) to provide a clear explanation as to why the internet connection in the country is more costly, yet comparatively slower, than in other parts of the globe.

“Kailangan ba nating magbayad ng mahal para sa mabagal at kung minsan ay hindi maasahang Internet connection? Dapat magbigay ng malinaw na paliwanag ang NTC ukol dito,”

On his Facebook Note, Senator Bam Aquino stated that an affordable, fast and reliable internet connection is crucial to sustain the economic growth in the country. Therefore, he is urging all those involved to figure out a way to improve the internet connection speed, and fast, considering that the ASEAN Economic Integration 2015 is just around the corner.

Ang traffic kase from other networks papuntang PLDT eh dumadaan pa sa America o sa Hong Kong o sa Japan. Ayaw kasi makipag data interconnect ng PLDT group sa ibang carriers na nandito sa Pilipinas kaya imbes na local na ang traffic, kelangan pa magbayad sa mga international carriers in dollars para sa traffic na ito. Mga consumer din ang nagbabayad nito.

Isa pang dahilan bakit mahal ang Internet dito, ang mga Pinoy mahilig sa content na foreign, maka US, kaya lahat hinuhugot pa natin sa ibang bansa. Pansinin niyo, ang website ng abs at ng gma at ng inquirer atbp, nasa ibang bansa naka host, so yung mga carrier dito, hugot pa rin ng babayarang malalaking links sa ibang bansa.

dahilan ng mga content providers kung bakit sila nag hohost sa ibang bansa mainly is, kung sa PLDT kase ako mag host ng website, mabagal pag inaccess ng taga Globe, bakit? back to square one, wala kasing peering ang PLDT at ang Globe atbp.

Sa Hong Kong bakit mabilis ang internet at mura? una, kase maliit na bansa sila in terms of geography, pangalawa, halos lahat ng content na pinupuntahan ng mga taga HK eh nasa HK din naka host. Sa HK, sa Vietnam sa Thailand sa Korea, napakaraming internet exchange na nandun lahat ng mga carriers, so local lang halos ang traffic nila, in turn mas onti ang babayaran nilang links palabas ng bansa kaya mura.

masyado greedy local carrier dapat magkaroon ng concrete na batas para dito

They treat internet connections as a f*cking luxury eh ngayon sa bansa natin nagiging necessity na. Sana nga maganda kinalabasan ng issue na ito.
