For portability, I would suggest using the new EXP GDC version 6 adapter. It uses a separate 220W adapter that can power up to a GTX680, GTX760, HD7870, or R9 270X

It's very light and compact!

The parts needed will be:
  • EXP GDC Adapter V6 with included 220W AC adapter
  • Desktop GPU (up to a GTX680, GTX760, HD7870, or R9 270X)
  • Laptop

You can also buy an enclosure to make your setup more portable

Happy New Year everyone!

I would recommend to stop asking for compatibility concerns here.
wala namang may absolute list ng lahat ng model ng laptop ever made na compatible sa peripheral and process na ito eh... :noidea:
you just have to try finding one from google if someone else already tried it or just bite the bullet and try it yourself :noidea:

planning to get this one on ebay, ok ba to?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-PCI-E-...810544?hash=item2ef77009f0:g:SMsAAOSw44BYLCVN

like I've previously said, kung wala kang mahanap na reference na may nakagawa na ng specific hardware combination mo sa google, then wala kang assurance but to try it yourself :noidea:

the idea of this setup is to increase your old laptop's gaming performance. so what kung may bottle neck? bottom line is: you've increased your computer's usability and gaming capability. most of the time, yung PCIE 1x pa lang ng laptop, bottle neck na eh. but that doesn't mean that it won't boost your computer's gaming performance significantly.

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

I have this case bought from lazada. Problem is nasira ko yung Power Supply nya  so ang option ko is ilagay yung dell power supply sa loob. Mejo mabigat and walang ventilation kaya mejo mainit ung buong unit. I'll try to find a similar power supply para malagyan ko ng maraming fans sa loob.

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

Thanks! Gusto ko mag experiment regarding this

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

^Kelangan mo kalasin laptop mo, that is a harm itself. Tapos Tatanggalin mo rin yung wifi module nya para dun mo saksak yung pcie extension. That's about it.

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

don't ask for compatibility concerns kasi walang may complete list ng lahat ng laptop ever made and had tested every possible hardware combination for this setup
kung wala kang mahanap sa google na may nakapagpagana na ng same hardware ng sayo, then wala kang choice kundi subukan
bottleneck, syempre meron. you'll be using a PCIE 1x slot instead of a 16x which is typically found on desktop motherboards. this thread is about increasing the functionality of your aged or weak laptop kaya you should expect that.
if you can't find answers sa google or youtube about your config, then you are on uncharted territory and have to explore for yourself.

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

:salute:

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

Yung setup ko sir expresscard and halos plug and play lang po. Lenovo T400 yung ginamit ko po w/Nvidia GTS450.

I see, na gets ko na. naka integrated pala gpu ng laptop ko. para magamit ko yung monitor ng laptop ko. dapat may dedicated gpu yung laptop ko para magamit ko yung egpu set up. hehe thanks sir. medyo nalinawan ako. sad to say. di pala pwede si lappy ko. hehe
