[TUTORIALS] Ubuntu (a Debian/GNU Linux Distribution)

makikisingit lang ...

try this pre kung gusto mong ichange ung appearance, fonts, theme etc. gamit ang appearance manager ...

copy paste lang to

eto na ..

First open a Terminal window (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) then copy+paste the following line:

sudo cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow

Now close the Terminal window and logout, when logged out the Appearance window pops up. Here you can make the changes you want and when your done you can login as usual. To prevent the Appearance Manager from opening when you login, open a Terminal window (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) then copy+paste the following line:

sudo unlink /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop

Here's a video tutorial .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1O1R2-rdEU

http://ubuntuguide.net/ubuntu-10-10-fix-the-screen-messed-up-at-start-up-and-shutdown

Open the link follow all the instruction then okay na ang plymouth ng boot at shutdown ng ubuntu

i don't take credit for this, share ko lang baka kasi may problema din na ganito...

Guys, pa help naman. I accidentally reformatted my drive C eh may partition yun that contains important docs. Now, I'm using Linux Ubuntu, is there any way to recover my files?

Check mo lang sa Page 1 yung link...look for the topic on "How to fix the Resolution of the Plymouth Logo (Opening Splash) in Ubuntu 10.04", under the section on "GENERAL DESKTOP". :) Likewise I didn't take credit for it, ni-share ko lang din.

Kuya TS,

Ubuntu with Proxpn

Okay lang friend. Gawan mo lang ng step-by-step procedures with pictures and post mo dito. Tapos I-verify ng team yan to ensure the quality of your tutorial. Pag good to go, i-post/link natin sa Page 1. :)

Guys, pa help naman. I accidentally reformatted my drive C eh may partition yun that contains important docs. Now, I'm using Linux Ubuntu, is there any way to recover my files?

Hi Friend,

Ubuntu (and Linux in general) offers some utility applications that can help recover accidentally deleted files in a partition that are caused by:

- accidentally formatting a partition
- accidentally deleting files

Here's the reading material: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DataRecovery

REMINDERS: Just wanted to set proper expectations before you "pull the trigger". These are based on my experience (I accidentally formatted my 500GB drive a few months back).

1. Any data recovery utility software will only be successful if you did not further "touch" the affected partition. When we say "did not further touch" it means pinabayaan mo lang...hindi ka nag-reformat ulit (meaning isa pang format after mong ma-accidentally format yung partition), hindi ka nag-save ng file doon sa partition na accidentally na-delete, etc.

2. You need to have another storage space that is equal to or greater than the size of the deleted partition. Minsan kailangan greater than the original size ang extra space mo because recovery softwares can even restore old, old files.

3. Please don't expect recovery utilities to recover your files exactly the way they were. Ibig kong sabihin...for example may mga .jpeg files ka na ang mga names ay "photokoito001.jpg", "photokoito002.jpg", etc. Usually recovery utilities will just rename them as file0001, file0002, etc. You have to rename them yourself. Recovery Utilities can't do the impossible and they have limitations (hindi niya kayang mag-magic). :)

4. Not all compressed files are recovered properly. Also some ISO files (files with .iso file extension like mga Ubuntu Live CD installers) may not be recovered as ISO files but instead, it gets broken down into smaller .zip or .rar files. This happened to me before, pero okay lang. I can always download ISO files anyway.

5. Some files get incorrectly reported in terms of their file size. May mga audio and video files ako na nag-bloat yung size, where alam kong 3MB lang siya pero naging 1GB. Wala nang pag-asa yun, I just deleted them. Also some music files get broken down too. For example, a 3-minute song becomes only 20 seconds.

:) One Windows-based utility I would recommend naman is EASUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional.

Best of luck!

No problem. :) Ultrasurf? The Onion Router (TOR) and Vidalia. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Tor

Yes sir. Tunnelling/proxy yung ultrasurf.

Thanks for sharing. :)

May DSL subs din ako pero in case sana na out of town may magagamit tayo. salamat sir. sana makahanap ako.

Yung wget is Terminal-based lang.

Hope this helps. :)

Sir, yung sa akin po ba iyon?
Start na po ako sa pag gawa ng HOW-TO pa wait na lang po.
As of now kasi sa 9.10 Karmic ko pa lang siya na test, pero ongoing na rin po ang testing ko sa Latest LTS release ( 10.04 Lucid ) and 10.10 Maverick.
Mas maganda kasi pag kumpleto na,
Anyway, sana mapasama rin siya sa First Page, yung last kasi na tutorial post ko dito di pinansin :weep::weep:
