naka-11.10 na nga pala ko. ang nagiging problem ko lang eh naghahang yung banshee. nung isang araw totally unusable siya tapos nag-update/upgrade ako naging ok naman na tapos nagloko ulit. nag-update ulit ako so ok ulit ngayon, ewan ko lang kung maghang pa.

My primary Linux OS is an LTS Release (LTS = Long-Term Support), which is Ubuntu 10.04. Every 6 months kasi may lumalabas na "Regular" release (April and October), so I just allocated an extra partition. Dun ako nag-iinstall ng regular release. Yung LTS Release ko, yun ang main OS.

I always try out the latest Regular Release simply because I am compelled to keep this thread updated. Pero if you will ask me personally sa LTS Release lang ako, kakapagod laging magpalit kasi. Ubuntu 10.04 uses the GNOME desktop environment. Pero if you install the Netbook Edition you can switch between the "Desktop" (GNOME) and "Netbook" (Unity) interface.

Unity is good especially for small screens and touch screens (may mga netbook kasi na lumabas na puwedeng tablet mode). Pero if you have a full desktop computer with a big screen, you will enjoy GNOME more. Another thing with Unity is that customization may not be as extensive as GNOME.

And because of the different "target" uses of GNOME and Unity, medyo "unfair" kay Unity (for me ha) na i-compare siya kay GNOME. May special "target" use or purpose ang Unity kasi (which is yun nga, touch screens/tablets/small monitors).

ask ko lang po kung pwedeng gamitin itong Linux in replacement sa xp operating system ko...Meron po kasi kaming computer shop, though i have already a license XP for each computers (30 units) required pa raw ng RRA ( rental rights agreement ) ng microsoft which cost about 2,500 each computer...

Yung friend kong may computer shop din, na puntahan ng taga microsoft last sept 7 2011, they confiscate 2/18 of their computers, and required to purchase license os and these RRA.

Tanong ko lang po kung pwede sa mga shop itong linux, ang laki kasi ng add cost namin kung mag microsoft pa kami.....sobra naman..!!! Bukod sa nag purchase na kami ng license xp before, need pa namin ng RRA na naman....PLS HELP

Yeah, thats true, di pa talaga stable yong integration ng Gnome3 within Ubuntu 11.10.

As experience ko now, I upgraded my 11.04 to 11.10. Nanibago ako. Dami kasing nawala or hidden within Ubuntu 11.10. Yong experience ko din, 3 days after the upgrade, my Unity dash will crash. Di na ako makagawa ng task sa desktop ko. I am forced to use the Gnome3 session. Maganda cya halos magkapareho lang sa Unity. But still di pa rin talaga stable. I bet by 12.04LTS medjo mas ok na to.

Comparing Unity and Gnome3, I would go for Gnome3, but still malay mo active yong development ng Unity they might integrate properly the Gnome3 with Ubuntu. Yong pinakalike ko talaga is the messaging and notification ng Gnome3. Which is I haven't found yet when using the Unity. Though I read something that they will be integrating it.

this might help..

di pa ko familiar sa 11.10.pero try mo rin 2.

visit the software center or equal(alam ko ala na dito ung synaptic)
install all video and audio codec.
install the right plugins for your browser that suits you(e.g flash player)
and lastly go to google and search for what you are looking for...andyan lang yan,try google indexing para mas madaling maghanap....note:make sure you decide kung anu ba ang gusto mong gawin when booting on your ubuntu machine I'm sure you'll figure out kung anung application ang kaylangan mo...goodluck pre..

Una kong ginagawa talaga after I install my Ubuntu.

1. Tignan yong terminal. If there were changes. Since bago kapang talaga. You need to explore on how to use commands in the terminal. Try to know the --help, man lalo na yong apt-get at dpkg.
2. Install the software you will be needing. Such as java-runtime, multimedia codecs, browser plugins. Package: ubuntu-restricted-extras
3. If you're into development, install your databases, programming language. build-essentials, php5, mysql, postgresql, apache2

I've been looking for this kaso I haven't found any.

I use to download in my Ubuntu and I love using wget as my downloader. The thing is I got my limit. I know how to use wget in Mediafire and Megaupload. Kasi they will give the link na kaagad. I just copied and paste it to my terminal then download starts.

Do you know how to use wget in Fileserve or any other file sharing sites aside from the sites mention above? Hope someone could share how to do it in wget. I did try using in wget kaso yong page ang na.do.download not the file. hehehe...

sa akin naman ang ginagamit ko yun multiget.. kung mozilla gamit mo madali lang una regular download ang gawin mo.

tapos e cancel mo then right click

tapos e pase mo sa multiget yun download link..

@terriblebush, that would be fine sir, hehehe I'm a free user, what I only want is to use wget when downloading. I don't want to let my browser download kasi. I don't want to install also another download manager. I like wget kasi simple yet effective.
