Tutorial: How-to guide in updating NVIDIA video drivers

Friends,

Here are the steps that I do when I want to update my NVIDIA video card driver (I'm using NVIDIA 9500 GT).

1. Remove any existing driver for your video card. If you have initially/previously installed drivers using "System"-->"Administration"-->"Hardware Drivers", just go to that application again and remove the driver. You may need to restart your computer.

2. Add this repository:

http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu lucid main
. I use the point-and-click method. I would go to "System"-->"Administration"-->"Software Sources" and I would just click on "Add". When the box opens, I will type "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu lucid main" (without the "").

3. Update the driver going again to "System"-->"Administration"-->"Hardware Drivers". You may be asked to restart your computer again.

That's it! Hope this helps. :)

Mga Sir. may suggestion po sana ako nag search kasi ako tungkol sa Social Group sa SB... marami akong may Singles group may programmer group may windows user group... pero wala pa akong nakita na Linux or Opensource user group...

gusto ko sana gumawa ng Linux user Social group... hndi ko lang alam kung paano..

mga sir baka may alam po kayo kung gawa po tayo ng Social Group d2 sa SB

sir para sa Broadcom try nyo po eto

open terminal and type

lsmod|grep wl

echo wl | sudo tee -a /etc/modules

pra ma enable yun broadcom.. pagkakaalam ko kasi automatic ng na dedetect ng Ubuntu yun broadcom..

ganyan din ginawa ko kasi dati sa netbook.. gmit ko naman nun yun linux mint..

na detect naman ni Ubuntu ang Broadcom kaso hindi ko ma set to Monitor mode...sa lalabas sa iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

Madali lang po yan sir. siguraduhin po muna ninyo na properly install ang video card driver..

1. right click sa destop
2. choose change Desktop background
3. choose visual effects tab
4. choose extra

oks na desktop effects mo :thumbsup:

Hehehe Compiz Fusion comes FREE on Linux.. check out this Video I have made a few days ago showing desktop effects you can only do on Linux!!!.. CLICK HERE

nagawa ko na po yung visual effect na prang nabebend ang isang window hehe...
POWER COLOR ATI RADEON 4650 SERIES 512mb 128bit
eto nag video card ko and nainstall ko na ng maayos ang driver nya.

ang gusto ko malaman kung pano yung 3d na desktop po yung ganun na umiikot :lol: hehe


nga pala nag replay ako sa kabila hehe nabasa ko yung tread ngaun lang yung tunkol sa PIRATED OS :rofl: mga mahihirap paintindihin ang iba pala ang mga iba..

pagnakabili na po ako ng laptop ko ang ilalagay ko ay ubuntu... hindi ko ilalagay ang windows gusto ko ako lang ang gagamet ng laptop ko hihi...

anu ang ginagamet mo na application para mapagana ang mga exe files? kasi may nabasa ako na article na tungkul sa mga ubuntu users na napapagana nila ang mga games na pang windows katulad ng GTA SAN ANDREAS.

may gamet po ako na WINHQ para syang 3rd party application na napapagana nya ang mga executable file po.

nasubukan ko na po yan boss, ayaw parin.. inilagay ko na sa blacklist ang wl..hindi parin mag monitor mode..

Hehehe:lmao: kaya nga e nauwi pa nga sa painting yun usapan namin dun e... gusto ko lang nman e explain na hndi safe ang Pirated..

sir. kung gusto nyo po yun 3D cube effects install nyo po sa synaptic package manager sa yun compiz config setting manager....

tapos punta kayo sa system/ preference / compiz config setting manager tapos dun nyo na po e set yun cube effects

Ganun po ba maaring incompatibility yan.... sakit tlga sa ulo yun Broadcom na yan :slow: .... sge po wait tayo sa Iba baka may maganda silang advice.. dyan
