One of them is about installing proprietary codes that include ability to play .mp3 files, Flash, and Java. It's called the "Ubuntu Restricted Extras". You can download and install it right from the Ubuntu Software Center. Just type the word "restricted" in the search box.

What version of Ubuntu are you going to install? 10.04 ba or 10.10?

In 10.10 it's already included in the default installation. Sa 10.04 you need to do an update (connected to the Internet - Update Manager).

However there is an offline way to do it. Either download the .deb files needed for usb-modeswitch (like what you just did)...or...a simpler way would be to install the usb-modeswitch from the burned copy of the ISO to the CD. Just check page 1 under the "Internet" sections to find the instructions. Hindi na bago ang instructions na yun pero yun ang latest.

hi po kuya, kuya pturo nman po panu e-install c flash player sa ubuntu 10.10, im using magic IP kya d pwde ako mkgamit ng ubuntu software center, png-browse lng ksi c magic IP, kuya pturo na din kng panu e-import c duck.ovpn ksi kpag inimport ko c duck.ovpn may error ksi pa help nman po and thanx in advance, gus2 ko ksi mag-config ng VPN pra sa ubuntu ko, mag-lilinux na ksi ako ngaun starting now bali dual boot gmit ko xp and ubuntu...

why dont you try the terminal/cli way of using openvpn .. di talaga lahat ng codes sa config file nyan ay maiimport to openvpn network manager ..

kuya panu po e-config c DUCK VPN sa CLI? pa TUT nman po ksi newbie lng ksi ako sa Ubuntu, at wat po ang da best na IDE sa python pra sa Ubuntu ksi python user ksi ako ^_^ pa TUT na din kng panu e-setup c IDE python sa Ubuntu, alam ko na po ung text editor pro gus2 ko ung may debugger ^_^

Yes, dapat automatic yan if you're using the latest version of VirtualBox.

Tutorial: Ophcrack

Friends,

Most of you might have heard of Ophcrack. It's also based on Linux and can be downloaded/installed/used as a Live CD. Website is here: http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

So I gave it a try to see if it can really crack the password of a local "Administrator" account in Windows XP. Within 5 minutes the password has been cracked.

There are some apps included so it functions like a Linux distro, although this is more handy as a tool for cracking rather than for using this as a main Operating System.

Notes:

1. This does not replace/reset the Administrator password; it cracks ("discovers") the password. The password that I cracked is 10 characters in length, and has a combination of UPPERCASE letters, lowercase letters, numbers (1234567890), and special characters (!@#$%$^&*().
2. As with most new Linux-based distributions, Ophcrack can be burned to a CD or set up as a bootable USB.
3. Ophcrack is successful for Windows XP because it (Windows XP) has a vulnerability where passwords are based on LM Hashes. In Windows Vista, this vulnerability has been solved by using NT Hashes; although there is still a chance for success when cracking in Vista.

ah ok, AFAIK latest version gamit ko and installed ko na din yung vbox guest addition to access my files in ubuntu.. try ko kung may net yung guest pag may net yung host
