MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOWDOWN [Open to all Camera Phones]

Credits to Zoedolf for giving me the idea. LOL!

I'm yet to share my photos on that place cypocalypse!! nice shots. Malakas yata ang hangin nung pumunta ka, mukhang nakisama sa akin ang panahon nung pumunta ako kasi walang hangin masyado plus may ulap and may lightnings ba behind the clouds na nagbigay naman ng konting details sa sky

Zoedolf,
My N8 got damped by the fountain. Mahangin nga. Sana walang long term effect.

You dont have to wory a thing about that, it happened to me several times and i had not a single trouble with my n8 on that matter, still running fine with the first OFW Belle. Aluminum yan hindi kakalawangin maliban na lang pag napasok ng tubig he he.

Naka auto ka ba dyan?

Or is that night mode?

I'm reading the EXIF of some of your shots. Yung exposure time (is this the same as shutter speed) goes to as low as 2.4 seconds in some shots. Is that manually adjusted? Or does pureview have super lengthy night mode?

With the 808, there's no manual setting with regards to shutter speed/exposure time (I believe they are one and the same) The phone automatically compensates/adjusts depending on ISO level and somehow it senses how much light goes in. What I do is peg the ISO at 50 and turn on the ND Filter at low light and the phone automatically compensates by allowing longer exposure time. The longest the 808 can give is 2.7 seconds. As a result, its very ideal for light trails and for nightscapes, despite low light, there's almost no trace of noise compared to the preset night mode. In night mode however, the phone tends to keep the exposure time as short as possible to avoid blur and that it raises ISO at very high levels. It will still give you less than a sec expo time, less blurs but with noticeable levels of noise. As seen on Zian's photo set on auto/night mode.

Pag nag night mode kasi ako, exposure time just goes to 1/4 sec.

Kaya pala low noise night shots mo. LOW yung ISO. But the lights are still bright though.

Ummm...(scratches head) :)

A pixel is technically a dot. Hence, when we talk about Megapixels we are talking about a unit of measure (Mega = million; pixel = dot; hence Megapixel = millions of dots per inch).

On the other hand, 4000x3000 is a resolution.

Analogy:

Karaniwang misconception ng mga bumibili ng monitors is: "the bigger the monitor, the bigger the max resolution that the monitor can provide". This is not always true (true in most cases, but not always). It is possible for a smaller monitor to produce a max resolution that is higher than what a bigger monitor can provide. Kasi magkaibang usapan yung monitor size versus max resolution.

Going back to the topic:

Let's say you don't plan to print a huge-size picture, the difference between a high-MP versus low-MP shot may not be immediately noticeable by the human eye (unless the viewer has an eye like a hawk). We will start to see the difference if we start printing them in bigger sizes.

Definitely and I agree, that the statement "wala rin sa MP yan, nasa gumagamit" will have a limit based on the objective. My statement was made to highlight and "break the myth" of most consumers and is targetted at such audience, not to professional photographers. To highlight the fact that we don't necessarily need a super high-end device to take good pictures? :) Yun po ang point ng statement ko and is not meant to be exaggerated.

Ahem, mejo naligaw yata tayo dun a.

Iligaw pa natin.

4000x3000 can also mean the number of pixels, not just the resolution.

that's 12 million pixels, equal to 12 mega pixel.

Now, back to our regular programming. :)

*eats popcorn*

kelangan natin ng photography dictionary

*Reads dictionary and counts MP of phone*

Smart angle. Facing the hardlight (yung puti).
Nakapatong si 808 sa bench, tama? Hehe!

Kung kapanahunan pa to ng VGA era, mas may sense pang magyabang regarding the megapixel race pero nasa 5mp, 8mp, at 12mp era na tayo, and any of these resolutions is more than enough. Actually, WAAAAAAAAY more than enough. Eh usually naman, ang resolution lang ng mga pics that we post on the internet eh kasing laki lang ng monitor natin.

I mean, minsan, it's ok to compare picture quality of one camera phone to the next, pero if it hinders you from actually just enjoying your life snapping pictures, edi parang wala na ring pinag iba ang camera geeks sa mga geeks ng Android at Apple na puro na lang specs ang pinag aawayan.

I guess, to each his own.
