1. Out of the $24B soft loan from China, a part of the loan will be used for the upgrades of Globe and Smart Networks. Remember, there were bigtime businessmen who accompanied PD30 when he visited Pres. Xi Jinping. Kaya malabo kung may magko compete pa.

2. It would be very hard for new foreign players, to set up their system and facilities in our country, since, their local competitors like Smart and Globe have well established their infrastructure already. There was even a news that a local ISP will have to tie up with San Miguel to speed up the process of upgrading.
3. If in case foreign players invest in the telecom industry, I don't think they will enjoy getting a good profit unless our current economic provisions will be amended.
a.) There is a higher risk of investing their money in a developing country like us. Our currency is continually weakening/floating and economy is not stable.
b.) The relationship between our country & the US remains acerbic and with Trump's presidency, I doubt businessmen from the west will continue to invest.
c.) The provisions of our Constitution pertaining to National Economy and Patrimony that limits the equity ownership of foreign individuals or corporations only to 40%, in short, they could not maximize their profits and control. And also, the provision Section 19, that states, 'No unfair competition shall be allowed', hence, they can improve their services but could not lower their service fees way below to the fees offered by local competitors.
d.) Telstra from Australia maybe a good player, but, I doubt it can survive in the long run, they have to re-assess if the Philippine market is good for them. Just like what had happened to Sun Network, selling most of their shares to Smart. Zte from China will be a good candidate, but, there is already a joint venture with our local ISPs and China companies when they agreed for the loan.
4. BPO and Call Center Business in the Philippines which rely heavily on internet traffic may have faced bigger challenges in the coming years, not only in terms of reduction of clients/investors mostly from the US, but, mainly because of our political satire with the West, the worsening climate change and the frequent strikes of typhoons and floods. It is also feared that Malaysia will be considered a threat to our BPO industry.
5. Due to the plan of PD30 to change our Unitary system to Federalism, this could create a lot of uncertainties for a lot of businessmen. Remember, there has been no final draft yet of the proposed Federalism law, and foreign investors would not venture out if their interest are not properly ensured. It is also presumed that the present administration will still face political instability and more civil unrest.
Going back to the proposal of Digong about energy industry, eh, malabo din. Sabi niya mura daw yong solar sa Europe. What are the downsides of this?
1. We are going to import much of these solar materials from Europe by way of loan. This will increase our foreign debt and probably increase our inflation rate. Besides, too much importation will create an imbalance in our Balance of Payments (BOP) and this is not good for the country.
2. It is true that solar power can augment our need for more energy. Although, this is a renewable energy, but, its full potential could not be harnessed to the maximum, due to our erratic weather and climate conditions. Moreover, the initial capital is very expensive yet it can only generate a limited wattage.
3. I don't understand the thinking of PD30, instead of, creating industries for us Filipinos and create jobs, he intend to rely on imports, making us carry the heavy burden on our backs. We have so many good materials here in the country and only what we need is the technical knowledge. Or perhaps, this maybe a way of paying back Europe when PD30 signed an agreement concerning 'green economy', giving the Philippines a monetary support, which in return we need to patronize their products.
Enough of this 'papogi' El Presidente! Sana ay maging totoo kayo.
