MANILA - Metrobank said Friday one person was arrested following reports of internal fraud that allegedly cost the lender at least P900 million.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that a senior bank official funneled disbursed loans into fictitious accounts. Bangko Sentral Governor Nestor Espenilla said he was investigating the report.
"Upon our own discovery, the bank immediately caused the arrest of the individual involved in this case, who has been detained by the authorities since Monday," Metrobank said in a statement.
The bank controlled by tycoon George Ty did not identify the arrested person nor say how much money was involved. It said a case has been filed.
"No customer has been affected in this incident. In the context of the bank's P1.9 trillion financial resources, rest assured that we continue to operate business as usual for the bank and our customers," the bank said.
Metrobank shares were down 4.54 percent to P87.35 in early trading on Friday.
"This is emotional selling," Abacus Capital and Investment director Manny Ocampo told ANC's Market Edge with Cathy Yang.
"The sooner that Metrobank is able to come up with a statement on what happened, I think the better to calm people’s nerves down," he said.
It was the second time in as many years that a local bank was dragged in alleged fraud.
In February 2016, unidentified hackers shifted $81 million from Bangladesh's foreign reserves to an RCBC branch in Makati City.
The BSP fined the Yuchengco-owned lender a record P1 billion over the incident, which exposed the vulnerabilities of the financial system to money laundering.
Legislators also recently investigated local banks over glitches.
Last month, Bank of the Philippine Islands' digital channels were paralyzed for 2 days due to what it said was an "internal error."
The country's largest lender, BDO Unibank, later admitted that 7 of its ATMs were "compromised" in a "skimming" attack that allowed unauthorized transactions.

hello po, mga boss.
nagsimula po ako mag-invest nung 19 ako. pero after 4 years, wala pa ding gain.
siguro dahil ndi consistent (kung kelan lang ako may pera) at paiba-iba strategy (from investor to trader to investor).
sa ngayon po, graduate na ako. i just got my first job. and i'm buying shares of ALI monthly.
balak ko po mag-stick sa ALI for the next 2 years or so..

ang iniisip ko po ngayon ay yung binili ko last year (nung naisip kong maging "trader").
currently, ang paper loss ko po sa NOW ay more than 15k.
i would just like to ask for thoughts. what are your insights about NOW?
should i still hold? or average down? or just cut loss and invest in better ones?
can you suggest a strategy po and/or stocks to consider?

hoping for positive response. :)
thanks in advance, mga sir at mga ma'am.

I envy you bro... buti ka pa at the age of 19 alam mo na mag-invest.

In my opinion, maganda ang future ni NOW... pero long term.
As of today mejo bearish siya kaya posible pa siyang bumaba.

Pero friendly advice bro, NEVER ADD ON A LOSING STOCK.
Mas maganda mag-average up sa isang winning stock kesa mag average down sa isang puladong stock, mas lalaki ang loss mo kung sakali.
Kung kaya mo namang i-cut.. why not. Better invest it to other stocks kesa naman natutulog lang.
Di natin alam kelan yan aakyat.. days? weeks? months? or baka years.. sayang ang pera mo.
Nag-cut din ako lately, mga 10k loss huehuehue.. Pero it's part of the game ika nga.

Mas maganda basahin mo buong book ni O'Neil How to Make Money in Stocks by William O'Neil - 4th Edition para mas maintindihan mo.. so far ito ang pnakamagandang stock related book na nabasa ko.

Disclaimer: Please support the book and the author. Buy the book if you have enough money.

Happy investing!

Thank you Sir King Jim Carlo... God bless you more

Share lang..

Paano natin gamitin ang C at A sa C-A-N S-L-I-M method?

ivhgeg.png

First of all ito ang tatlong website na ginagamit ko pag-check ng Financial Statements ng isang stock:
1. PSE Edge
2. Investing.com
3. COL Financial Website

C - Current quarterly earnings per share must be up at least 20%. Bo

iny7hu.png

From Investing.com

2a65h78.png

From PSE Edge

Based po sa unang picture, makikita nyo po na tumaas po yung EPS ni MEG ng more than 10% which is good enough for me. By the way, MRQ po is Most Recent Quarter and TTM is Trailing Twelve Months. Huwag po natin kalimutan na i-kumpara dapat ang EPS same quarter as last year.

A - Annual Earnings Per Share growing for the last Five Years.

First log-in muna sa COL account nyo, then go to Quotes Tab>Stock>Input nyo Stock Code na gusto nyo and click Quote>Go to Valuations Tab. Same example parin which is MEG
Ito ang makikita nyo under Valuations Tab:
3498oyp.png

Based po sa valuations, increasing ang EPS ni MEG from 2012-2016 which is good. (Kaya pala reco to ni Bo )

Basahin mo nlng yung book How to Make Money in Stocks by William O'Neil - 4th Edition for more details.

Perang pinaghirapan mo nakataya dito..

Sharing is giving :)
Happy investing!

tama yun... CUT LOSS.... mag set k ng amount or percentage n kapag n hit SELL agad pinaka importante sa akin yun para ma protektahan mo yun CAPITAL mo...tandaan mo ayos lahat ng STOCKS basta alam mo paano iTRADE....may nabasa ako n experiment kung saan mga monkey pinapili nila ng 10 STOCKS(same stock size and position) tpos ang strategy is 5% cut loss n cl tpos 10% SELL at Profit...ngayon tignan mo result s 10 n Stocks 4 ang panalo tpos 6 nmn ang talo...40%-30%=10% win p din...so kahit 40% lng n tama cl s pagpili ng Stocks panalo p din d mo kailangan ng panalo palagi importante malimitahan mo mga talo mo yan yun sinasabi nilang MANAGING YOUR RISK...para tumagal tayo s Game of Stocks...Good luck and God Bless

guys may alam ba kaung desktop widget ng stock market na ang ipapakita lang is ung binili mong stock to monitor the price. thanks

I know a few of you are still holding FGEN, even if we recommended a sellon this a few months back. If you still have it, no worries. If you're still holding FGEN, it's okay because we're long term investors, and since this is a giant company, we believe that if we wait patiently, weforesee its price will going up again in due time. So you have 2 options: 1. HOLD & WAITHold on to FGEN and wait for its price to go up. Current Target Price ofCOL is P26.25. or you can...2. SELL & SWITCH You may also consider selling FGEN and switching to MER, and do your"waiting" with this company. Analysts believe that MER has a lot of room togrow and it also gives a nice 5.4% Dividend Yield as you wait. That's why we always say it pays to wait. These are our recommended options. So you it's your call. You areempowered. Hold & Wait or Sell & Switch?

by History panalo lagi ang HOLD and WAIT...pro kailangan nito is patience kc ang time frame nito is 5-10years sure yan n kikita k...are you the type of person n willing maghintay...?

SELL and SWITCH ... dapat marunong k s TIMING alam mo WHEN TO BUY and WHEN TO SELL...

pro s pagkaka alam ko pag baguhan nag start cl s HOLD and Wait....tpos habang sila tumatagal at unti unti cl natututu s stock market tsaka n cl nag SELL and SWITCH...

Based on the chart, FGEN could drop as low as 15-16 pesos per share.

Di kita tinatakot pero posibleng mangyari. You have to choose, to cut or wait. If you are willing to wait.. then how long? Years? Decades? It's up to you..
If you want to wait and thinking of averaging down, read this:

Already sell my fgen dati pa bro. Base din sa reco ni bro bo dati at col. Remember that long term investing ang point ng forum na to. In return SURE na SURE na may ROI ako. So sa tanong mo na need ako wait 5-10 years kulang. Need ko 30 years or more pa!

Basta investing.. bawal mainipin.

CHP malapit nang umangat..
MEG napaka-stable..
