Screen Yellow Tint Issue
In most cases and countries, pinalitan nila ang unit.
After searching various Forums and blogs on the Internet; the information posted by “Dacha on Jan 23, 2012” in this Forum seems to be most correct to me, i.e.
[ Basically, if the touch firmware is 6 (dial *#*#7378423#*#* -> service info -> software info), the screen should be fine, they won't accept repairing (in China); if it's 7, then there might be yellow tints on screen.
Also, it is not about the week number, it's about the 4 letters code printed on the battery sticker, the one just above the week number, something like "AAAB".
If the first 2 letters is "AA" (hardware version 1), then it might be a problem screen; if it's "AB" (hardware version 2) or "AC" (hardware version 3), then there is no problem, i.e. no yellow tints / spots. ]
To be sure, avoid or do not accept these units na lang.

Manual ICS Rooting Guide
without downloading the +500mb pre-rooted system image - tested by Ayan0314http://www.symbianize.com/showpost.php?p=12395357&postcount=298
How to root Xperia S(the manual way) for noobs like me.
requirements:
- unlocked bootloader (read first post of the thread)
- Fastboot folder http://j.mp/xps_fastboot_pkg or dito sa xda forums
- CWM-SuperSU-v0.92.zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596285
- kernel.rar http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1145853&d=1340304583
- recovery-nozomi.img http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596285
Steps:
- Copy first CWM-SuperSU-v0.92.zip from your computer to your phone.
- Place the Fastboot folder in your computer. Kahit saan pwede.
- Extract kernel.rar and place it in the Fastboot folder.
- Place the recovery-nozomi.img in the Fastboot folder too.
- Unplug the phone from the usb port(assuming naka coonect yung phone mo dahil ni-copy mo yung zip file). turn off the phone, hold volume up while plugging it again to the use port.
- In the Fastboot folder, hold SHIFT key then right click. Choose "Open a command window here".
- Type fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img you will have somthing like this:
- Unplug again your phone, boot your phone to access recovery mode.?
- ?Once you see a menu, using the vol keys, up and down, select install zip from sdcard. Use the camera button to select,
then choose 'choose zip file from SD card'. You will see the CWM-SuperSU-v0.92.zip that we copied earlier, select it.
- Once you've selected it, it will show a little list of no's and a yes, choose yes with the option to install. It will prompt you once the installation is complete.
- Turn off your phone, hold POWER + VOLUME UP. make sure that there are three consecutive vibration to confirm that it is already off.?
- Wait for a few seconds, then connect again your phone to the USB port while holding the VOLUME UP button.
- Go back to the command prompt, this time type in fastboot flash boot kernel.sin, You will have something like this:
That's it! Your phone is now rooted!

This is the official way to unlock your Bootloader
Warning!
This procedure will wipe the data partition of your phone, so you will loose all ur stored data, settings. SDCARD will NOT BE WIPED!!!
DRM keys WILL be lost forever
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
kaya... backup! backup! backup!
[ before we begin unlocking bootloader ]
- get the IMEI code for ur device: type *#06# in phone dialer to find it out, note only the digits (no dashes)
- download the fastboot package with usb drivers - link 2
- make sure u have a windows PC with USB cable to connect the phone
- power down ur phone and keeping the Volume Up button pressed connect the USB cable to PC this will trigger FASTBOOT mode and windows will start driver installation, extract the above package and point the driver install to that location (usb_driver) folder
- once drivers are installed just disconnect cable and power on device
[ how to unlock ] (official way)
- Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and read everything!
- At the bottom click 'Start Unlocking the Bootloader'
- after u have verified that u can unlock bootloader, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Continue"
- you will get "are you sure prompt" accept it by clicking "yes i am sure" (i assume that you have read and understood it)
- then accept the "legal terms"
- finally u will get a "Create Unlock request" page, enter your IMEI (minsan kelangan burahin yung last digit para gumana), name and email address
- You should now receive your unique unlock key, its displayed on screen, SAVE THIS KEY SAFELY
- Extract fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar and open fastboot folder
- Hold SHIFT and right click on the background of the folder
- Select 'Open command window here'
- Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold Volume UP button and plug in USB Cable) [make sure drivers are installed as explained above)
- In the cmd windows type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
- If a value is returned (it will return 0.5), it means the phone is correctly connected
- Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key which you received earlier.
- You're device should now be bootloader unlocked
during the process, nag-install pa ako ng android SDK at kelangan ng android SDK yung Java Development Kit (JDK).
