i agree. lalo na ang mga tao sa america ayaw nila ng rank and file na trabaho. and even if they offered the job post for BPO companies here sa US not a lot of americans would really qualify.

Kaya nga po noong nakipag meet si PDu30 sa mga investors/businessmen, sinabi niya na baka taasan niya yong equity ownership ng mga foreign investors sa 70% pero kailangan pa po ito maipasa sa Kongreso at ma amendahan ang Saligang Batas.

Ano po ang magiging impact ng panget na relasyon ng Pangulo sa Amerika? Sa akin pong palagay ay ito po ang mga posibleng mangyayari:

1. Dahil panget ang pakikitungo ng Pangulo sa Amerika at Australia, posibleng hindi na sila gaganahan pang mag-invest, sinabi pa nga ng Pangulo sa tv na, 'magsilayas na sila'.
2. Dahil nga panay ang pambabatikos ng Pangulo sa mga Amerikano at sinisisi pa niya ito sa mga digmaan naming mga Muslim, yong mga investors tuloy ay natatakot at nag-iisip ng umalis dahil nga sa concern sila sa kanilang seguridad. AT mahirap din iasa nila yong mga negosyo nila sa mga Pilipino.
3. Dahil po 40% lang yong ownership nila, posibleng ibenta nila ng dahan-dahan yong mga shares nila sa mga Pilipinong negosyante, kahit ma recover man lang nila yong capital nila. Maniniguro po ang mga iyan at ito po naman ay makikita natin sa performance ng Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). Ito po kasi ang merkado ng mga malalaking negosyante. Kung unti-unting bumubulusok ang stocks ng merkado, ibig sabihin lang ay marami ang nagwi withdraw o nagbebenta kesa sa nag-iinvest.
4. Posible po na ang mga nag-aatrasang investors ay maghahanap ng mga bansa na 'friendly', maganda ang mga polisiya at atmosphere sa pagnenegosyo, gaya ng Malaysia. Ang Malaysia po ay naghahanda na sa BPO Industry at magaling din po sila sa English kasi naging kolonya din po sila ng mga British before. Naging issue nga last year or the other yata, na ang Malaysia ay sinisiraan tayo dahil sa pag-iimbeta nila ng mga outsourcing investors na mamuhunan sa kanila dahil sa wala daw sila bagyo, etc. kumpara sa atin. Pati nga po Vietnam ay nagsisimula na rin, kaya lang nasa Pilot stage pa sila.
5. Posible din po na ang mga investors na yan ay doon na lang mag-invest sa kanilang bansa, gaya ng mga Amerikano. Meron na kasing naipasang batas ang Amerika, na 'American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 o ARRA' na mamuhunan muli sa kanilang bansa para makapagbigay ng trabaho sa kanilang mga kababayan.

Yong paglalagay ng mga kumpanya ng US sa China ay may mga kadahilanan, ito po kasi ang naging polisiya ng dating Presidente na si Bill Clinton: 1) gusto nila masawata ang Piracy; 2) kumita sila ng malaki dahil sa low labor cost; 3) ma monitor nila ang human rights abuses ng China; 4) economic at military espionage.

Sa tingin ko, may hangganan yong trading ng China at mas mahihirapan sila ngayon na makapasok sa West, kasi nga sa laki ng impluwensiya ng US. At hindi lang yon, may programa ngayon ang US na tinatawag na Trans-Pacific Partnerships (TPP) na maganda ang mga incentibo ang ibinibigay, gaya na lang ng pagluwag sa mga bayarin ng tax para sa produkto ng US at iba pa. Maraming mga bansa sa West ang nakikisali dito. Ang ibang bansa dito sa Asia ay nakisali na rin gaya ng Vietnam, pero ang Pinas ewan ko lang kung makakasali pa kaya.

Sana nga lang ay tama ka sa iyong binanggit, at hari nawa na wag sana mangyari ang ating kinatatakutan, kasi, marami talaga ang mawawalan ng hanapbuhay.

Tingin ko di pa ngayon ang hangganan ng ekonomiya ng China, dahil sa kanila ngayon nakadepende halos lahat ng bansa. Lalo na ngayong mabilis ang pagbaba ng ekonomiya ng US. Tungkol naman sa BPO, di maiiwasang magkaroon talaga tayo ng mga matitinding ka kumpitensiya pagdating ng panahon. Di naman kasi talaga pang long term ang BPO, pag nagkaroon na tayo ng kalaban sigurado hihina ang BPO sa Pilipinas dahil nagkalat na sila sa ibat-ibang parte ng Asia. Kung magiging industrialized tayo, mas maraming trabahong papasok satin at mas pang long term to kumpara sa BPO. Mas maraming magkakaroon ng pagkakataong makapag trabaho depende sa propesyon o skills mo. Di yung engineer, accountant, mechanic ka tapos call center mapapasukan mo dahil dun ka lang natanggap at no choice ka na talaga. Sayang naman yung kurso na tinapos mo kung di mo magagamit na kahit under grad ng high school pwede makapasok bilang call center agent. Isa sa magandang buhayin yung industriya ng bakal sa Pilipinas. Dyan mayaman ang Pilipinas at siguradong malaking pera ang papasok satin kung tayo mismo ang magmamanufacture nyan at mag eexport sa ibang bansa di gaya nung aangkat tayo ng materyales sa ibang bansa saka ibebenta dito na malaki na ang nagiging patong.

The $24-billion investment and credit line pledges that the Philippine government secured from China earlier this week were a display of “greater confidence” in the future economic relationship of the two countries, according to Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez.
In a text message to reporters, Lopez said that the renewed friendships in this part of the world have opened huge opportunities for Philippines’ trade and investment in China and Asean market of over 1.9 billion people.
The deals secured during President Duterte’s state visit to China are expected to boost the trade and investment levels between the two countries, he added.

Lopez disclosed that the $15 billion worth of investment projects signed were as follows:

*Subic-Clark railway project by Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and China Harbour Engineering Co.

*Bonifacio Global City-Ninoy Aquino International Airport Segment of Metro Manila Bus Rapid Transit-EDSA project by BCDA and China Road and Bridge Corp.

These investment agreements are expected to generate 2 million jobs over the next five years.
Meanwhile, financing facilities worth a total of $9 billion would come from the China State ($6 billion) and Bank of China ($3 billion), Lopez said.

“We will maintain relations with our other partners but we would revive the stronger integration with our neighbors. We share centuries of trading, similar cultures and a better understanding of our region,” he said.
“For China alone, they continue to be the Philippines’ second major trading partner with $17 billion value in total trade. Our exports to China were $6 billion in 2015 but this still has high growth potential as we establish better relations and considering China’s total imports was around $2 trillion in 2015.
Another promising area again is investment from China. Their investment to the Philippines dropped to only $32 million in 2015.
But China’s total outward investments was around $130 billion in 2015,” the trade chief said.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to Japan yielded investment commitments worth $1.85 billion from private companies, a member of his administration said Thursday.

Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez said the investments, forged through memorandums of understanding and letters of intent, are in the automotive, egg-laying technology, optical imagery, and biofuel fields, among others.

“The fresh commitments may generate between 200,000 to 250,000 direct and indirect jobs over the coming years,” Trade Undersecretary Nora Terrado said in a separate interview.

Lopez said the amount does not include possible fresh commitments from such big Japanese companies as Marubeni and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. that had brief meetings with Duterte during courtesy calls of their officials on Thursday afternoon.

Duterte’s three-day visit ended Thursday.

“We look up to Japan as a very good partner on all fronts — official development assistance, trade, and investments,” Lopez said.

Ramon Jacinto, Duterte’s adviser on economic affairs, described the Philippine leader’s first visit to Japan as “very positive,” noting how “the Japanese understood him very well in terms of what he really wants, and what he really means by asserting our independence, and that we have to stand up on our own, and that we have to create our own ASEAN region that is strong like the European Union.”

ASEAN refers to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, a 10-member regional bloc that includes the Philippines.

According to statistics provided by the Japanese Embassy in Manila, Japan’s cumulative direct investment to the Philippines from 2000 to 2015 totaled around $609 billion, topping the Netherlands’ $431.3 billion and the United States with $399 billion.

Trade between the Philippines and Japan, its largest trading partner, meanwhile, totaled $18.8 billion in 2015, higher than with China, which is valued at $17.2 billion, and with the United States, at $16 billion.

On official development assistance, Japan is the Philippines’ largest donor, totaling $24.3 billion from 1966-2013, representing 56 percent of what the Southeast Asian country has received during the period.

I think it would really help if the government assigns somebody to explain to the people all the broad details and other important things: payment arrangements, interest rates, etc. They owe it to the people to inform them these things.

May isa pang topic na related dito: we all know the global financial scene is lorded over by IMF-WB, with all the good and evil that goes with it, including interfering with the affairs of debtor nations. BRIC—meaning Brazil, Russia, India, and China—offers a critical challenge to this status quo, offering nations the chance to acquire more reasonable loan terms, and I believe the Philippines latest loan is an example of this. $19B in financial deals from Japan

The Philippines has received offers of investments and loans totaling $19 billion during President Rodrigo Duterte’s three-day official visit to Japan.
The bulk of the amount, $17.2 billion, was offered by Marubeni Corp., one of Japan’s major integrated trading and investment business conglomerates, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said in a text message to reporters in Manila on Thursday.
According to a document provided by Lopez, Marubeni will be “involved in $3.2 billion worth of projects (short term) and $14 billion (medium to long term) worth of projects in mass transport systems, roads and highways, water and power.”

The financial package includes a $157-million official development loan to provide the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) with two new large patrol vessels to improve the country’s maritime law enforcement.
The loan came after Mr. Duterte and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed to continue working together to maintain peace and stability in the region beset by conflicting territorial claims.
Both Japan and the Philippines are locked in a maritime dispute with China.

The two patrol ships would be in addition to the 10 Coast Guard vessels under another official development assistance loan.

Maritime law enforcement
The $157-million loan, signed on Wednesday by Japanese and Philippine officials, is intended to also improve the PCG’s capability for search and rescue operations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Also signed following Mr. Duterte and Abe’s expanded meeting were agreements to provide the Philippines with TC-90 training aircraft, high-speed boats and other equipment to enhance the country’s antiterrorism capabilities.
Another loan, amounting to $47 million, would be used to construct plants, acquire equipment, and provide operating capital to agricultural cooperatives and private businesses to help generate more jobs in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

12 MOUs, LOIs
Apart from Marubeni’s offer, there were $1.85 billion in committed investments to the Philippines at the end of Mr. Duterte’s three-day visit.
These covered 12 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and letters of intent (LOIs).
Lopez said the investment deals forged in Japan, excluding the Marubeni commitment, were expected to generate some 250,000 jobs in the Philippines.
The agreements were signed after the Philippine Investment and Economic Forum on Thursday, which was attended by more than 1,000 Japanese businessmen and about 200 representatives from the Philippine business community, Lopez reported.

Gratitude
Japan has been a major source of official development assistance for the Philippines and Mr. Duterte conveyed his gratitude to Abe during their meeting.
“Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) for the Philippines is second to none in terms of real value and the positive impact on the lives of the Filipinos,” the President said.
The two countries agreed to harness the ODA as a tool for “positive economic and structural changes in the Philippines.”
