Thanks sir. Nag rubbing ako until sa palagay ko ay tamang kintab then nag step 2 na ako which is polish at kumintab lalo yung paint. May 2 pala akong tanong, is it true na wag muna mag wax kapag newly painted and wait for around 90 days? And, is there such thing as walang orange peel kapag nagpaint ng sasakyan?

hindi totoo yun, dapat nga i wax kapag newly painted para lalong lumitaw ang kintab. additional protection sa dirt at pampadagdag ng glossy kaya nag-a-apply ng wax
talagang laging may orange peel or balat suha kapag nag paint sa car. pero pwede mo siyang ma lessen ang pagka orange peel nya, depende sa galing at husay ng pintor. marami kasing factor kaya malala minsan ang pagka balat suha

i wet sand lang ang mga flairings ng #400, then spray ka ng plastic primer, mga 2 layers lang, then patuyuin saka uli lihain at i-spray na ang base color (acrylic) mga 3-4 layers, then i-wet sand uli ng #400, paint uli ng base color at least 2 or 3 layers saka isunod ang top coat clear.

nasa klase ng paint yung pearl effect, kapag yun ang nabili mong paint, same process din ang pagpipintura

I just want to share my very 1st DIY auto painting courtesy of this thread started by sir solo_baric which was very helpful and inspiring. It was very tiring especially all the sanding involved. Fortunately, I got a little help from my brother. We had to fix the leaks on the roof first. Ideally, the roof should be replaced with a new sheet metal but I don't have the balls to do it so I had to resort using an aluminum sheet, polyurethane sealant, Pioneer non-sag marine epoxy and Polituff body filler. It was not a perfect job as there are mapa mapa on the roof from the masilya which cannot be sanded further anymore. I think mas nadismaya ako sa ilan namasilyahan na part than the outcome of the painting which I think is not too bad for a 1st timer. Here are some pics:

This is the state of the vehicle prior to painting. Aside from the leaks, the color has faded like there's no more clear coat on some parts. I started by wet sanding it with #400 then masking the parts that I don't want to get any paint on.



Next, I sprayed the primer. I made a mistake in mixing the primer with thinner and hardener for the 1st coat. I also had problem spraying the 2nd coat and it resulted in a sandpaper-like texture which I just corrected by wet sanding with #400. I guess the mixture of the primer was a little thick for the 1.3 gravity feed spray gun I'm using and the pressure may have been a little high.



Next, I sprayed 3 coats of base coat. I decided to go with urethane or 2k paint system for its durability compare to acrylic. I chose Dupont because it's a binder type wherein the hardener is already added and I just need to add the thinner.



Next, I sprayed 3 coats of clear and 4 coats on some areas like the hood. For some reason I'm having problem spraying the hood with base coat and clear coat. The clear coat I used was Cromax which is by Dupont also. It came with a hardener but thinner is not added anymore. The clear coat wasn't sprayed right away after the final base coat has flashed. It took me more than a day to spray it which, according to the tech support of distributor of Dupont, is not a good idea. They guy said i had to spray the clear coat right after the last base coat has flashed because if it takes too long before spraying it, black cloudy patches can appear. He recommended to spray another layer of base coat then let it flash before spraying the clear coat. But I was too tired and lazy already so I just went ahead and sprayed the clear coat. Luckily, I didn't encounter the problem he had mentioned but I got a lot of orange peel especially on the hood. I think the pressure to the spray gun was a bit high also and the clear coat was slightly thicker than the base coat in terms of mixture. I had a lot of over spray with the clear coat and it remained suspended in the air for quite a while compared to the base coat. I was able to minimize a lot of the orange peel through wet sanding with #1500 and #2000 except the hood where I got afraid from sanding further for fear of penetrating the basecoat.





This is the finished product. Luckily, my uncle gave me an old rotary buffing machine so I don't have to do rubbing and polishing by hand. I bought a wool pad for the rubbing compound and a foam pad for the polishing compound. It has not been waxed yet which is next on the list. It may not have a show car quality finish but I'm quite happy with the outcome considering it was my first try. If I had more time I would have deal with the masilya part in a much better way. The whole project was very tiring but well worth it.

HIPIC po gamit kong primer. It was recommended by the paint store kasi mas may katawan daw. They let me compare to similar size (1 L) Anzhal at mas mabigat ng konti ang HIPIC. Nagkamali ako ng halo sa 1st coating. Sabi sa akin 4-2-1 so 2 parts hardener ang hinalo ko instead of thinner tapos naging 1 part yung thinner. Pero nung tiningnan ko sa website, it should be 5-2-1 pala at yun ang sinunod ko pero magaspang pa rin pagkatapos so siguro kelangan pa ng konting thinner tsaka baka sa pressure rin sa spray gun.

I assume you're directing your question to me. If so, a little less than 15k inabot lahat lahat including the spray gun. My brother has a 1HP compressor lying around so I don['t need to buy one but if you must buy one then your budget might shoot up to more than 20K. I used Dupont pero kung gagamit ka ng Anzhal makakatipid ka pa ng konti. Per LITER kasi ng Dupont nasa 1600+ per liter compare sa 2700 ang 1 Gal ng Anzhal. The reasons kung bakit Dupont pinili ko ay dahil nabasa ko mas maganda metallic ng Dupont compare with Anzhal whereas kung solid color lang yung kulay mas maganda daw yung Anzhal. In short, mas metallic at dahil metallic yung Heather Mist Silver ng honda I chose Dupont. Also, binder system siya so you just need to add thinner and no need for hardener unlike Anzhal pero sa clear coat naman you need hardener. Lastly, sabi ng paint store (ewan ko kung totoo) yung kulay na gusto ko daw meron nang formula sa Dupont and I saw the color chart so anytime I needed some more hindi manu mano ang timpla unlike Anzhal daw na wala yung kulay na gusto ko. I only bought 3 liters of base coat and I did 3 coats at may natira pang mga 500ml. Aside from the budget, you need LOTS of time if you want to DIY. A lot of times I spent around 12 hours a day prepping it prior to painting. I hope this helps.

bumakat yung cover, ang nangyari dyan, nabasa ang cover hanggang sa naarawan ay hindi naalis. kung malalim ang bakat, need mo nang ipa retoke ang hood, kung hindi naman gaano, baka makuha pa ng rubbing compound. sana i-post mo picture para mas makita natin.

mag expect ka ng 25-35k depende sa materials na gagamitin at sa class ng shop o talyer na pagdadalhan mo at depende rin sa pintor

Ask ko lang po kung paano mag maintin ng matte finish na paint job? Meron po kasi ako mio na matte ang finish niya at kalalabas ko lang po ng motor. Okay lang po ba to use wd-40 or pledge para pang linis?

hindi aplikable sa pang maintain ang wd 40 kahit ang pledge. hindi mo na kailangang pahiran ng iba't ibang cleaning liquid para sa motor mo. tubig at sabon or shampoo ay ok na, kahit ang sabon at shampoo ay hindi dapat laging ipanglinis, once or twice a week lang ay sapat na yun.

pag nagbuga ka ng kulay (1st four or five coat) kailangan mong i-wet sand hanggang mawala ang orange peel. after that, spray again the base coat at least 3 coat, pagkabuga ng kulay isunod na agad ang clear coat. after ma spray at mapatuyo, i wet sand mo na siya ng #1200, para ma-rub down.

guys help nmn, hnd ko lam if related to s thread pro about painting p din nmn... gusto ko xe mgpalit ng kulay ng bike ko pro hnd ko alam kung pnu babakbakin ung old color nya, suggest nmn kyo if nu mganda and easy way pnu tnggalin ung old color nya..and ask ko n din if nu mganda, ung compressor b ung nsa lata lang n pang spray??? thanks ng mdmi....
