[TUT]Setup a SOHO/Computer Shop Network

:noidea:

Gaya ng diagram na ito.

WIFIBRIDGE.gif

Ok tol.. Network Drive/File sharing will be coming up soon.

But if you just intend to only have peer-to-peer services like offline games connecting to Local Area Network inside your vicinity then probably you may able setup only PC to PC w/out router and switch. The main function of router is to forward an internet access came from the ISP line towards inside your LAN. Well, for further details and informations on how network works. Read this.

OSI Model
DoD Model

This explains you everything on how network works,. what are the protocols or process when sender encapsulates a data and de-encapsulates the data from the receiver, not just with the process but explain also the functions in every layer. It would be informative to you. :D

Yeps, definitely.

Honestly, hindi pa ako naka setup using USB modem. You mean USB broadband stick? Not yet. I don't know if that will work, let's wait for some experienced users to assist your question.

Straight-through - You used this when you connect different devices.

Example:

Switch to Router
Switch to PC

Crossover
- You used this when you connect same devices.

Example:

PC to PC
Switch to Switch
Router to PC (exceptional rule)
Router to Router

Rollover - You used this when you intended to connect into serial port(back of your system unit)

Serial_connection.JPG

In Cisco environment, they using this sometimes when they intended to connect into Console Port for the router and switch configuration.

There are kinds of issues when differentiate this said devices. I think these following link below might be informative to you.
http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/hardware_software/2006/router_switch_hub.asp

Remember Switch and Hub are different. Just consider the Hubs as an old-school type and less features and Switches improve the performance of Hubs and they prevent the problems/issues that have been encounter using Hubs. I think these link below would be informative to you.

Hubs

- creates big Collision Domain around the LAN

- problems in less bandwidth, one bandwidth for a group of end user devices(PC Units)

Switches and Bridges

- prevents collision domain(told you it modifies the problems with the previous hubs).

- Bridges was developed after the Hubs but the issue about bridges is that it only break up a single large collision domain into a number of smaller collision domains.. In Switches, every port of it has one single collision domain

- more bandwidth. every switch port has its own bandwidth.

Switches and Bridges further info

pareho lang po ba sila ng uses?

puro straight-through lang po ba ginamit mo dito?

Paalala lang vinxmark, Next time please don't create multiple post(at maviolate ka pa) instead of it just use the multi-quote button or put all your message into 1 post only.

Anyways, its very obvious na naka indicate sa post yung uses/functions ng types of Ethernet Cables, which apparently, you quoted it above. But I'll still make it clear for you to understand well.

Straigh-through use when you attached different devices. For example, Switch and PC's are different so we must use Straight-through cable. However, there's an exceptional rule between Router to PC's(that's what somebody assumes)

Crossover use when you attached the same devices like router to router, switch to switch, or pc to pc. This type of Ethernet Cable usually you'll see in Peer-to-Peer Network.

Rollover use when you attached into Serial Port(back of your computer) into Console port of high end routers such as Cisco, and etc., You usually see this type of Ethernet Cable when someone intend to configure into Cisco Router or Switch using the Console.

And in my example/guide on my tutorial,. I used straight-through cable because they were attached into different devices. Starting to ISP(Modem) -> Router -> Switch -> PC. Now try to look the inter-connected devices on why did I used the straight-through cables. Sort it out and you'll learn to it.

Now its very clear that they had different uses/functions. alright? I hope this would be informative to you.

@babycha,

Static means to manually assigned IP address into the host/PC's

Dynamic means it automatically assigned IP address to the host/PC's once it request from the DHCP server.

It's up to you what would be the best routing to used for the management of all of your host/PC's.

For further info on how to setup Static and Dynamic,.I already posted it at the 1st page.

Actually tol, these tutorial is just a example guide/manual for various SOHO/Computer Shop usage routers. The configuration in the tutorial is still the same to any SOHO routers(such as TP-Link and etc.) but there are different forms of Web GUI interface, ang pinaka importante lang nito ay may guide on how to configure routing Static/Dynamic and IP addressing for the Local Area Network. All of the guides on the posted tutorial is also visible on any SOHO device. Anyway, if you seem that configuring TP-Link device is very complex for you, I can assist you tol just post screenshots here para malinaw.

very nice thread!!!pa bukmark po...thanks nito!:yipee::yipee::yipee:

nice thread... more tut pa ts.. salamat ng madami dito for sure marami matutulungan ng thread mo.

First of all, e determine mo muna kung pwede ba ang globe wimax e connect thru wireless router? Do they have compatibility with each other? Do you think the globe wimax can serves as a ISP modem?

Globe Wimax(serves as the ISP modem) -> Wireless Router -> Desktop PC -> then do the configuration.

- First of all log-in ka muna sa WEB GUI configuration ng router

- Punta ka sa Wireless configuration section.

- Configure mo ang (SSID, Password type and characters and etc.)

- Then save, hayun lang.

About sa router suggestion. Anything basta 802.11n type na Wireless Router,
