[TUTORIAL] DIY eGPU - Attach a DESKTOP GPU to your Laptop!

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

awts, overseas pala parts. sayang.

pwede kaya to? 2010 pa kasi to.

Asus K40AE
AMD Athlon II M320 2.1GHZ (dual)
AMD Mobility Radeo HD 4200 (380MB)
1GB pero kaya nmn hanggang 4GB

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

ayos to ah

this is a great alternative instead of buying a full gaming laptop worth +100k like alienware and the likes... pwede kang bumili na lang ng mga business class laptop with great i7 cpu, ssd or hybrid storage, 8/16gb of RAM na less than 40k lang at saka mo lagyan nito.
geforce 960 or better would be a great price/performance upgrade.

Yun talaga yung point ng eGPU. Weight also plays a factor now. Macbook Air or Ultrabook pwedeng maging gaming laptop.

Medyo malabo yung 2010 models.

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

EXP GDC or PE4*?

The new PE4C v3.0 has a soldered cable like the PE4L v2.1b and can be powered by the Dell DA-2 220W Adapter.

In fact, maglalabas nga si Intel ng sarili niyang eGPUs for the future Thunderbolt3 Laptops. The future looks good for portable gaming!

Re: Build your own Gaming Laptop! - DIY eGPU

samsung np550p5c-t01ae
cpu : i7-3630QM (3.4ghz turbo boost)
gpu : intel hd 4000 (integrated) / GT 630M (2gb) -- NVIDIA OPTIMUS

The GTX660, as well as the GTX750Ti are known to cause PCI compaction errors, often requiring a DSDT override to free up some space to accommodate the eGPU. There are some simple tutorials on how to do this.

Regarding your specific unit, it also has a dGPU that needs to be disabled either in BIOS settings, or through the third party program they're using (Setup 1.x). Not sure if removing the dGPU drivers will solve the problem (it worked for my Lenovo T400 before).
The great thing about setup 1.x is that you can perform a DSDT override/PCI compaction, disable GPU only when booting with an eGPU, and chainload the settings to the masterboot record.

I don't have much info on Setup 1.x because I use an UEFI bootloader rather than legacy for my unit.

Suggestion kong gumamit na lang ng ibang GPU to eliminate one known source of error. If not possible, then troubleshoot lang talaga.

As a general rule, kapag PCIe Generation 1.0 ang available slot niyo (2.5GT/s), pinakasulit na GPU (with minimum bottlenecking) ang GTX460 or GTX560Ti

Good luck sir, balitaan mo kami.

Between the PE4L v2.1b and PE4C v3 (both soldered eGPU adapters), hindi ko alam kung alin sa dalawa yung mas mura/sulit. The PE4L v2.1b is just as good as a PE4C if you're only using an ATX PSU.

Kung mataas ang power requirements ng GPU (>75W), I would suggest an Akitio TB2 eGPU Adapter + Powered Riser, (Another Portable build).

Mas marami pong maitutulong ang eGPU rMBP Forum. May automated script na po sila for eGPU. Hope this helps.

My setup is:

eGPU
PE4C v3.0
GtX 980

Laptop specs
8gb ram
Intel i7 5500u 2.4 (3.0 turbo)
1tb Sata

I'll get pics up once i run some proper tests.

Very nice! That setup will last for a pretty long time.
