hi po mga master. ahmmm wala pa po akong alam sa linux pero i want to try this. meron po ba kayung mga video tutorial dyan about sa linux? specially sa khali linux kasi ang alam ko for hacking yan at yung backtrack. gusto ko lang matututo mang hack ng wifi yun lang naman ang nais ko kaya gusto ko mapagaralan ang linux. Kahit yung mga basic lang po kung baga introduction sa workplace ni linux. salamat po sa mga mag rereply

Just to say that Kali Linux is successor of BackTrack, so their technically developed by the same team of developers.

ahm.... there's actually no certain video tutorial that would guarantee you'd become a hacker after watching it and I don't think that would help you to progress either, you really just got to do it.. maybe watch few videos then install one linux distro that you fancy (Mint or Ubuntu are good starting point), boot it, play with it, explore the filesystem - how it is differs from the traditional Windows OS, start installing and compiling software from source, or from repos etc...

mga master tanong ko lang po. nakawindows 7 po ang laptop ko ngayon, gusto ko sana mag linux. pero nakapartition po yung hard drive ko, di po ba mabubura yung partition ko kasi sa drive c ko lang sana ilalagay yung o.s baka kasi mabura yung drive d, back up files ko po yun.

zorin o.s po gagamitin ko.

*na try ko na po kasi yung zorin os sa desktop. nag auto adjust po yung partitioning ng hard drive di ko.

Oh I forgot to mention about the extended partition bit, So if you have windows, usually it's primary partition.

Linux can stay on either Primary or Logical partition (Linux doesn't really care), but you want all your linux to stay on Logical partition within the extended partition (don't know if that make sense)..
but my install looks like this:

Windows (Primary)
Extended Partition
---Swap (can be used by all distros should you choose to install another more distros later)
---Ubuntu - /boot
---Ubuntu - / (slash means root)
---Ubuntu - /home

and you can basically extend it like this...

Windows (Primary)
Extended Partition
---Swap (can be used by all distros should you choose to install another more distros later)

4 max primary partition lang kasi ang pwede sa isang hard disk...So sa 4 primary prtition isang partition for windows then swap then yung dalawa na nattira para sa ibang OS or a backup partion..


Yung extended ay pasok kon gudto mo makakagawa ng more than 4 partitions sa isang hard disk....So ang gagawin mo gawa ka ng 3 primary partition at yung pang apat gawiin mong extended...Yung extended walang limit kahit ilang partition yung ipasok mo dyan...

To be frank, Im a windows user since 1995, I dont have any educational background regarding computing and Im a college undergrad.
More than 10 years, all I know is windows.
I thought I was "comfortable" already with it until I encountered linux when I was at the hype of learning portableapps.
And so I made the shift. Took some risks and was happy with it.

Later on, if your computing life is something more than just the casual "play games, watch movies, turn the music on, surf the net, facebook, youtube etc"
then you'll surely see the point.
How can you be comfortable with a computer that you have to conduct a lot of maintainance task?
How can you be comfortable with a computer that is always vulnerable to viruses, malwares and spywares by just inserting a usb drive, surfing the net or even by just simply turning your wifi/bluetooth adapter on?
How can you be comfortable with a computer that will always make your pocket epmty just to get the latest softwares?

Dont sour-grip if YOU still have a lot of choice.
Use LINUX!

thank you po mga master. na install ko na po zorin lite os sa laptop ko.

baka burahin ko na rin yung windows nakadual boot pa kasi sya. nagugustuhan ko na kasi linux.

ask ko na rin po pano procedure para mapagana League of Legends dito sa zorin os. ubuntu based po yung zorin. kung may nakapost na po dito, pa link na lang po thanks po.

gamit ko lang linux is Ubuntu Server Distro.

generally installed on my ultra-low powered Atom Based PC (18watts approx)

Used it as:

- MiniDLNA (DLNA service for streaming my entire music/video library over local network)
- Transmission Bitorrent Client (torrent 24/7 without electricity price hike)
- Owncloud (cloud based storage service, para kahit wala ako sa bahay, meron pa rin ako access sa files ko)
- Flexget (automated download of torrents via RSS, so papanoorin ko na lang sya pag uwi ko ng bahay)
- pyLoad (download manager function similarly like IDM, but with these, it has a with collection of plugins, to ease the download experience)


HDD: 4x2TB 3.5inch HDD external via 4 port SATA docking station (14watts power consumption) 1x160GB SATA 2.5inch HDD as internal hdd for OS.
RAM: 2GB DDR2
Display: None (headless system)

magandang Araw sa inyong Lahat... sarap mag basa pero nakaka pagod eh.. (hehehe) gusto ko sana itry ang linux.. yung kali muna sana.. ang pinaka tanong ko po mapapgana ba sa linux ang mfa designing software like: Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel at iba pang Adobe products ?

gagamit ka ng wine, but i suggest ubuntu or mint instead of kali. hindi kasi specialized ung kali dun sa gusto mong gawin. kung hindi man gumana ung mga softwares mo may sarili din si linux na mga softwares

Pwede ba akong mag schedule ng backup (tar using cron) from one server to another?

Let's say na I-run ko ung cron sa Server1 pero dapat ma se-save sa Server 2 ung tar files?
