Poem ** as long as the music plays **

i heard the music in my head
the moment our gazes met
an unfamiliar yet haunting melody
it resonated deep inside of me

the trickling notes, they ebbed and flowed
they whispered promises of love untold
an unrelenting sweet refrain
the song, it lingered in my brain

sometimes the music played soft and smooth
subtly hinting at a mysterious prelude
at times it lilts into a jaunty tune
that lifts me up and cheers my mood

there were times the music seems so loud
it shrills, it echoes, it pierces your shroud
it makes your blood boil to the sound of the beat
it enrages you, gets you off of your feet

and then there were moments when it reaches your soul, it breaks you up
it rips your heart out whole
and after the last haunting tune has played
you're left with nothing but sad remains

but through all this the music continued to play
it never stopped..
it will never fade
and when the time comes that my heart beats its last
i will surely love you
for as long as the music plays
