Im happy for most responses on this thread and It seems that most enthusiast are more concerned on security and some, the functiionality.
As for your response, I edited my post on the 1st page of this thread. I also added some links regarding how secure linux is and added also added the link you provided.

xp gamit ko noon, last two years. pero nung lagi na virus ang os ko. i tried to switch to ubunto kahit ala ako alam sa linux andiyan naman si google. ayun napamahal na ako kay linux. sarap kalikutin. hehehe. . hindi mo kasi malaman ang halaga ng linux kung hindi u subukan. andyan si WINE kung windows application ang gamitin mo. . basta ang pinaka essence ng linux ay " free" .

hi po mga master. ahmmm wala pa po akong alam sa linux pero i want to try this. meron po ba kayung mga video tutorial dyan about sa linux? specially sa khali linux kasi ang alam ko for hacking yan at yung backtrack. gusto ko lang matututo mang hack ng wifi yun lang naman ang nais ko kaya gusto ko mapagaralan ang linux. Kahit yung mga basic lang po kung baga introduction sa workplace ni linux. salamat po sa mga mag rereply

Matagal na akong windows user since windows 98 hanggang windows 7. dahil parang nagsasawa na ako sa windows dahil sa mga problema at nacucurios ako kung ano meron sa Linux na wala sa Windows kaya sinubukan ko mag Linux tulad ng Unbuntu, at kalinux pero via Virtual machine lang muna kumbaga silip-silip at subok-subok lang. Hehehe. Pero ngayon may nagustuhan na ako at ininstall ko na talaga sya sa PC ko at pangalawang araw ko ngayon gumagamit ng Linux at ( Linux Mint 17 cinnamon ) ang nagustuhan ko. Sa paggamit at dito sa napili kong distro linux aba panalo sa interface, low maintenance, di kailangan masyado ng updates, wala ng chechebureche sa installation diretcho agad, educaditonal matututo ka gumamit ng terminal at commands, sa features at desktop nya swabe talaga sya. tapos punta lang sa built in software manager para maghanap ng maiinstall at iclick lang ng install sya na bahala, kung may pangwindows ka na application gamit ka lang ng wine. at halos marami karing makakalikot na wala at hindi pwede sa windows yun lalo ang nagustuhan ko. pakiramdam ko ngayon parang bumilis ang pc ko di tulad ng dati at wala masyadong nagrurun sa ram ko tulad ng sa windows.

sa hindi pa nakakagamit ng linux, gamit muna kayo ng virtual machine o magdualboot muna kayo tapos pili kayo ng linux distro na magugustuhan nyo tapos review din kayo ng mga feedback's. tama sabi nila sa umpisa lang mahirap, pero katagalan matuturo rin kayo konting google at tanong lang yan. sa linux less e-waste at eco-friendly kapa.. Hehe!

TS, ayaw gumana ng tunnelguru sa ubuntu 14.04 ko... nag gamit na ako ng wine pero wala parin, saba niya kailangan man install ng java 6 or higher, ginawa ko na rin. pero hindi ko alam panu e set ung variable path para mapagana ung tunnelguru ko sa ubuntu.

Hindi pa supported ng wine ang tunnelguru, (sa pagkakaalam ko).
Pasensya kna ha, ndi aq gumagamit nyan eh.
Check mo dito sa Wine Supported Application Database kung may pwede kang alternative sa tunnelguru.

Lightweight po sya ^_^
Pag start pa lang sa Windows, around 1.06Gb na RAM na ung kinakain, pero sa Linux, 200+Mb lang.
Galeng din ng effects ng desktop environments, nakaka-aliw lalo na ung KDE
Tas ginagamit ko sya pang software development, hehe. Minsan lang kasi naglalag ung Netbeans ko sa Linux, unlike sa Windows. -_-

We are on the same ground, my netbook also has 2gb of RAM,
If you need faster browsing expereince, you should better find a better internet service provider.

Here are choices for Linux Distributions created mainly for gaming:

Personally, I'll recommend Linux Mint 17.

You may choose Linux Mint 17 MATE Edition if you want to run many games since you only
have 2GB of RAM (But you didnt mention youre GPU). Mate takes less RAM compared to other
edtions of Linux Mint.

Though, even though running only 2GB of RAM, I still prefer Linux Mint 17 KDE edition. Thia
ia the main Edition that im using for a long time and Im happy with it.
You may use the Wide Collection of Software from KDE to help you with your browsing needs.
Here are some softwares from KDE that might supplement your browsing expereince:

Matagal na akong curious kung ano ba itong linux na ito. Ang natry ko pa lang kasi before is yung CentOS and Debian (which is ginamit kong OS sa private server ko dati ng Ragnarok) pero aside from using it as a server for an online game, wala na akong idea pa kung ano talaga ang Linux.

This thread is very useful para sa akin. I will start using a Linux OS. But I have a few questions lamang po (please limit the technical terms po as much as possible for a dummy/newbie like me hehe).

1. I have read na Zorin ang puwede kong gamitin since user-friendly daw siya. But limited lamang ba ang OS na ito compared to other Linux OS?
2. I know how to use Wine dahil yun rin ang ginagamit ko to install some Windows programs needed for Linux sa server ko dati (example is SVN and such) but if gagamit ako ng Wine to install Adobe CS6 for example, kakayanin ba?
3. How about for games like Call of Duty: Ghosts or online games like DotA2 and League of Legends? Is it possible to install those games sa Linux using Wine or other programs na parang Wine?

Nang unang lumabas KDE4 (using Kubuntu), eto ang nakasira sa flashdrive kong 4GB na halos bago lang din sa market nun. Kung sa ganda o pagka-eye candy maganda talaga ang KDE4 kaya lang mabigat. Kaya sa gustong gumamit ng KDE4, talagang dapat maganda ang specs. At para sa gustong mababang specs, try v3.x. At sa mga naghahanap kung may development pa rin o may latest ang classic KDE (i.e. v3.x), meron po at ito'y Trinity DE.

I thought your statement was Universal. Particular pala Kung Mint per se, meron ding version and edition na comes w/ KDE classic (i.e. 3.5x) kung hindi ako nagkakamali na pwede mag match sa specs niya. Basta clarrify ko lang magka-iba ang KDE classic (3.x) at KDE 4. Parang Gnome 2 and Gnome 3.
