Would he be the Samurai in the boards or would he be the escaping ninja?

Hehe. Parang Kasparov vs Shirov lang ito. Hehe.

Classical games: Magnus Carlsen beat Hikaru Nakamura 12 to 1, with 19 draws.
Classical games: Garry Kasparov beat Alexey Shirov 15 to 0,

In their recent chess.com blitz/matches. Carlsen also dominated Nakamura.

Shirov belongs to the same era of Anand, Topalov and Kramnik. Hehe.

True. There was a time na lagi akong bumibili ng Chess Informant (Sahovski Informator) na laging pinifeature yung toughest tournaments within a year, and lagi mo nga talaga makikita yan si Shirov sa top ten listing kasama nina Anand.

Upon losing the final game of the match, Taimanov shrugged his shoulders, saying sadly to Fischer: "Well, I still have my music."[349] As a result of his performance, Taimanov "was thrown out of the USSR team and forbidden to travel for two years. He was banned from writing articles, was deprived of his monthly stipend... [and] the authorities prohibited him from performing on the concert platform."[350] "The crushing loss virtually ended Taimanov's chess career."[351]

Hehe.

Interesting.

“In his book Chess Duels Yasser Seirawan has drawn attention to the fact that the legend of the apparently lone fighter Fischer is a myth. In reality Fischer had all the relevant people from the US federation behind him for support. Leroy Dubeck, president of the USCF from 1969 till 1972, had agreed with the executive director Edmund Edmondson that all the resources of the federation should be gathered for the project ‘Fischer plays for the World Championship’. For this purpose they also used all membership subscriptions of the USCF. In addition Fischer had the support of Fred Cramer, also from the federation, as his legal adviser. Amongst the chess players on whose help Fischer could count were the grandmasters Bill Lombardy, Lubomir Kavalek as well as Fischer’s close friend the international master Anthony Saidy. A special role was played by Lina Grumette, who was a sort of mother substitute for Fischer and whenever necessary offered him refuge in her house.”
In addition to many people at home, Bobby had considerable help from the president of the FIDE, during the championship match itself. Fact is, according to the agreed upon match rules, Fischer ought to have been forfeited, but wasn't. Even Spassky managed to help Fischer, by accepting these "accommodations" to the challenger's many "demands."

Interesting.

Tsk, tsk.... Sayang talaga si Fischer. All these again prove that the last thing a genius needs is to put it all into his head.

What he truly missed was an honest friend who'd whack his head straight every once in a while once he let all the hype take over his gray matter, hehe.

Sayang talaga. Kasparov, Fischer and Karpov rivalries will take chess to a greater heights. Do you know that the late president Ferdinand Marcos offered Fischer huge money para lang kalabanin niya si Karpov?
