Ferdinand E. Marcos: Hero o Villain?

Nice Thread TS..

In my personal opinion.

His Attitude was great, intelligent, advance thinker, strict, great thought organization and very concerned man with a good heart for the people.
His Work was awesome, doing everything for the country, as a matter of fact, some of his project still exist in our country, and if he was not forced to resigned he's planning for the advancement of our military equipment like missile launcher (Remember during his time Philippines are already manufacturing our own missile) or even country's defenses like anti aircraft, anti tank or submarines etc etc.

In short, I really ADMIRE his Passion.. Imagine that $1-USD is equivalent to 2Php only?? Maybe we can afford our Own Aircraft Carrier and dozens of Frigate and Corvettes and Submarines and Tanks and fighter jet or Apache for internal and external defense of our country, siguro hindi maglalakas ng loob ang China na sakupin ang Scarborough Shoal natin. And remeber yung Bataan Powerplant na project nya pa sana para mas mura ang kuryente nang ating bansa and other than that siguro laganap na rin yung Wind Mill na meron sila sa Ilocus Norte sa ating mga sea shore.

And According to my Grandmother's Experience during his term,

According to Martial Law based in my Grandma's experience..

after martial law,

His Work Speaks Louder than His Word (Same goes to His Opponent)

Peace for all, di kasi to tinuro samin sa school, ang sabi sa school namin Diktador si Marcos, subrang higpit na daw nasasakal na ang mga tao kaya nag People Power etc.. It's your choice to agree or not to agree with me I'm just expressing my own opinion and what my family told me.

Thank you for reading.

The only thing that i ddnt like about marcos is the "martial law", i cant believe he didnt know the abusive act of his subordinate.
I considered Imelda as the "greatest" mastermind plus the corrupted officials.
If he only had a chance to continue all his patriotic plans for PH, our country would be on better path.
:) peace to all!

During Marcos reign, average GDP growth is only 3% while the our neighbors in South East Asia average 6%. If you want to ask when did our neighbors overtook us in terms of economy? It was during Marcos rule.

As my opinion:

Pero opinion ko lang to, try to search for it din, look for it on youtube. Marcos got lots of projects for the country, lots of infastractures, tayo din ang mayari ng Empire State, 2nd tayo sa ASEAN. How come we blame him and we see him as a villain, did we also took time to evaluate the people who put him down? The Cojuanco's , the Aquino's who are still in the government, what are they hiding? what are they afraid to show their true riches. They have lots of connections on the Media as well. Anu ba tinatago nila?

Ask your self, who's the hero and who's the villain.

We are the 2nd richest ASEAN country nung panahon nya.:)

I strongly agree that Ferdinand Marcos is a hero. Di yung puro mga elistista yung tinatanong niyo. :superman::du30:

I'm sorry. Honestly, Marcos is not a hero. He was a former soldier but never a war hero. He just bought fake medals to proclaim his heroic deeds but never recognized by Americans nor the Allied Forces. There is no document which would corroborate that he received a distinction of honor from the US forces.

Ferdie was a convicted criminal for a felony of murder when he shot in cold blood his neighbor early morning in his homeplace. He was granted reprieve by Justice Laurel due to his passing of the Bar Exam while serving his sentence in the prison.

There are good as well as bad things which Ferdie did when he served as President of the Philippines. Many of them can be searched online or thru reliable sources. Unfortunately, most of the new generation of Filipinos prefer to believe in hearsays and fairy tales rather than the truth. A simple test would be? Where did Ferdie get his riches or his wealth? He was not rich when he lived in Ilocos before he became President. Gossips just circulated that he got his wealth from the loots and plunder during the war which by far, unverified and baseless.

Some said, that the currency during Ferdie's time was $1-P2 which is far from the truth. I was born during his regime and never experienced that the Peso was just half of the Dollar. This is a total lie! This was not his time. Kindly read our history.

Yes, there were many projects during Ferdie's time, big projects indeed. Unfortunately, most of these projects were managed and co-owned by his cronies. And if you want promotion in the military, you must be at least of Ilocano origin.

The debt of the Philippines during Ferdie's time reached $27 Billion with an inflation rate between 20-50%. Prices of commodities rose each year even to the point that the sugar industry fell down in Negros. If I remember it right, Fredie Aguilar composed a song entitled, "Sagipin natin mga bata sa Negros", to save children from hunger and malnourishment.

Ferdie started good at first. He had awesome projects. Big projects in mind. One of those was the "National Electrification" law, "National Irrigation" system and a lot more. Unfortunately, as time went by, he was eaten by greed, more ambition, pride and insecurity. He could no longer vacate his position. This was the time when the public aired their discontent and disappointment. The public discontent was fired by the intrusion of China thru funding the guerilla movement called the 'NPA'. They were used by China to counter the influence of the West during the Cold War era. China was successful in their campaign, they made Vietnam, Cambodia and North Korea repel the American forces and embrace Communism. However, they could not take hold of the Philippines due to a very strong American presence and influence. So, they just funded a revolutionary group to tear down Marcos and his government. They used tactics to expose Ferdie's weaknesses-- issues of corruption, human rights violations and ostentatious display of wealth and pride.

Poor Ferdie, he wasn't able to do what is right in his time. He was surrounded by evil men--- friends, cabinets, advisers and even religious leaders. He was not instructed properly nor advised for the absolution of his sins. He was left alone going to the crooked and darkest path until he finally met his end. An end to his dictatorship, militaristic rule and abuse of power. I remember him not as a hero, nor a villain but a poor guy who lost his vision and succumb to power and greed.

Mahirap na nating pag-usapan yong nakaraan.
Marami kasing ayaw meron din naman gusto.
Ang maganda pag usapan natin ngayon.
Tatay Digong is a hero.
Down to earth si Tatay Digong hindi hambug.
Simple magsalita pero may political will.

I consider Ingko Marcos as a hero and a visionary contrary to Digoy's allegation that he's a villain.
No President in the Philippines can even be compared to him, not even your Tatay Digong.
Ingko Marcos was born Genius and a great politician the Philippines ever had.

Ingko Marcos was a World War II veteran working as a Deep Penetrating Agent against the Japanese.
He worked as a translator for the latter but used his position to relay vital intel information to the Allied Forces.
His success as a deep cover brought victory to the emancipation of the Philippines under the Japanese Imperial rule.

When he was young, he became a prodigy of Roxas and worked as a liaison officer of the latter.
Unfortunately, he found out that he was only being used and his ambition was thwarted.
That's the reason why he switched camps under Macapagal.

Yes, Ingko Marcos was a convicted felon when he accidentally killed his neighbor in the early morning in his homeplace.
The person was a rival of his father in politics.
The incident was still unclear what really triggered the homicide.
He served his sentence in prison and at the same time doing self-review for his upcoming BAR exam.
Despite his poor situation inside the prison, he came out to be a topnotcher in the BAR.
A true mark of a Genius!

When Ingko Marcos was granted reprieve, his political and civil rights were restored.
He was able to run for public office.
For sure he was elected for public office and thereafter became the President of the Philippines.

Ingko Marcos was a visionary man, he has so many dreams for the Philippines.
Not only that he prepared the nation for industrialization, he also extended his projects even to the ends of the country.
The known programs of his were: 'The Masagana', Kilusang Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran, the National Electrification, the National Irrigation System, and a lot more.
He was able to build big famous projects such as, the San Juanico Bridge, the CCP Theater, the Folk Arts Theater, the many dams for water and electricity, etc.
He was an advocate of discipline, the national motto before was, 'Sa ikauunlad ng bayan, DISIPLINA ang kailangan'.
During his regime, he was able to modernize the AFP and even develop rocket ammunitions called "Santa Clara Missile Project".
The project aims to defend the country from external threats and invasion.

The regime of Ingko Marcos was scuffled with political aversion.
The communists demand for political reforms through embracing the Marxism ideology.
It was in the interest of China to turn Asia into Communist to further its influence and implement its 'Silk Road' project.
His political rivals and oligarchs were even conniving to put him down to advance their own selfish interest.
The oligarchs were intimidated due to their lost voice and control in the government.
The then Sen. Benigno Aquino who was his fraternity brother allied with the left just to bolster his personal agenda.
This Senator maliciously exposed the Sabah plan and made issues about it.
Sabah has a historical bearing as part of the Philippines since time immemorial.
As a result, the Jabidah massacre happened when the trainees revolted against their trainers due to disinformation.

One of the many salient features during the Marcos regime were: Ingko Marcos had a tight control over prices of basic commodities, good control of the economy especially on the FOREX, less corruption due to limited number of positions in the government, no big gap on the wages between the private and public sector, accountability of public servants, and many livelihood projects were given. Foreign loans were used efficiently to fund the infrastructures that until now these infrastructures remain existent and durable.

The corrupt politicians and the evil oligarchs were not happy during Ingko's time.
The corrupt politicians wanted to have a share of the foreign loans and enrich themselves through 'Tongpats'.
The oligarchs wanted a share of profits by way of providing materials and services from all government projects.
The oligarchs also wanted to own some government controlled corporations and institutions to benefit themselves further.
Ingko Marcos wanted to dissipate this power from the oligarchs to the common masses benefit.
Unfortunately, the evil oligarchs and the corrupt politicians used tactics to discredit Ingko Marcos and maligned his reputation by inventing false accusations and stories.

To be continued......

I liked how this guy pointed out who Ferdinand Marcos is from how he knew the guy.

I don't know Marcos or how life really was during his time. But I believe there is a grain of truth within the lies, and lies within the truth.
He might be a Genius, a Visionary, a story of how one's struggle can amount to something..

the sad fact is that with all the plans, the promises and projects he had..
he didn't have the trustworthy people he needed, the personnel who will at least embody his ideals
and thus, somewhere along the way, people abused whatever they could with whoever they would
all in his name, as if he did order all those atrocities against us Filipinos.
maybe he did, maybe he didn't. but the shortcomings of his subordinates was his shortcomings too.

I think he is neither a Hero nor a Villain,
I believe he is just a guy who struggled in between the lines of good and evil.
Trying to make a legacy, but brought down by losing sight of the reality.
Time was against him, and he wanted more of it, he got greedy.
Probably he wanted the Philippines to be great,
and he wanted to live a better life too.
but everybody else with him just wanted the better life.

But I believe what truly defines a hero and a villain is his Cause and The outcome
and what people would struggle to be like.

Is he someone who you want your children, brothers and sisters to be like?

A Visionary?
A Genius?
A Soldier?
A Murderer?
A rule breaker?
A Dreamer?
A Cheater?

Move on .

Hahaha.

Cannot consider a hero... Pero trabaho nya un as a president.

hero for the people, villain for the Aquinos and mainstream media.

best thing to do is teach and learn our real history...madaming hindi tinuturo sa paaralan at marami rin mali sa history natin..

Article II, Section 2. The Philippines renounces war as an instrument of national policy, adopts the generally accepted principles of international law as part of the law of the land and adheres to the policy of peace, equality, justice, freedom, cooperation, and amity with all nations.
Article II Section 8 of the Philippine Constitution explicitly forbids the presence of nuclear weapons in the Philippines.
