How to make your own home solar. With Pictures + solar book

Re: How to make your own home solar. With Pictures + solar b

Ang MOTOLITE ay gumagawa din ng deepcycle battery at yan po ang pangalan SOLAR MASTER made specifically for SOLAR purposes! Kaya nga po SOLAR MASTER eh!

sa 30k+ sir, how many Kw or ilang panels ang ininstal mo? ilan ang batteries na gamit mo? iyong modem at router mo ang tanging 24/7 na running sir? if ever plan mo magexpand in the future, ano mas maganda ba magdagdag ng panel or damihan mo na lang ang batteries for storage purposes?

UPDATE: sir may nakita ako sa page 6 na pic ng battery. motolite solar master (deep cycle). sabi mo kasi do not use automotive batteries. eh ang alam ko sir eh ginagamit ang motolite sa mga sasakyan. pakiclear sir. thanks.

I have 3 panels 2 80 watts (cdrking) 1 50 watts (not cdrking) total of 210 watts panels connected in parallel to make a 12v system. My batteries are MOTOLITE SOLAR MASTER rated at 100Ah I have 2 of them also connected in parallel so my battery bank is 200Ah. my router and internet modem are operating 24/7 sila lang ang 24/7 yung iba as I need them. If you plan to use more loads you must also add panels not batteries only. actually I can use more if I want to but must consider to use only 50% of the battery in order to lenghten its lifetime. and remember that a panel is used to charged the batteries so if you have a small panel and a big battery bank you can never have your batteries charged with in the day.

@Quark: if you want to have solar at home, first list the appliances that you want to run on solar... then come back to this thread and we will tell you what you need... even if it is just a plan or a dream... we can help you to have a concrete idea of what you will need... just keep in mind that you will not run aircon, ref or other big appliances on solar (unless you have a very big budget!)

thank you sir sa clarification. may nakita ako sa fb group na may 1 year replacement iyang motolite solar master. so doon pa lang eh ayos na ayos na ang battery na yan. may minimum of 1 year usage ka na.

so, sa mga appliances na gusto irun sa solar ang magiging basis ng capacity na iseset up. sa basic muna mam siguro like sa ilaw, modem/router.

... i agree, solar hates "big appliances"... but did you know this new solar device developed as a "mosquitos exterminator"?... Bill Gates calls this device "Simple, but smart."

check the power adapter of your router and modem. my modem is 24v and I have a 12v system and for that I bought a dc-dc boost converter which converts 12v to 24v (step-up converter) my laptop is 19v so another dc-dc boost converter is used for that. and for appliances like my ps3 console and led tv thats where I use the power inverter(converts12v dc to 220v ac). good luck hope to hear of your project soon.

very good idea... great here, in Palawan, as we still have lots of malaria and dengue cases... plus can be used for other uses like hydroponics  I have to find how it's made!!! Thanks!

Sorry but unless you are very, very rich you cannot run 4 aircons on solar! Just to give you a small idea:

for only one hour of use of one 900 watt aircon you will need:
300 watt solar panels
200 Ah deep cycle battery
+ very big inverter and controllers

you multiply this by 4 aircons and then multiply the result by the number of hours you want to use them...

It is not good to stop your ref for the night, especially if you use a timer in day time... because the temperature inside the ref will go down a lot during the night and if you run the timer at 6 am for only 15 minutes, it will not have time to cool down... and your food might be spoiled!

still a long way before i can finish reading this thread. im at 35/169. hahaha

indeed, mam awinahe is very helpful in answering the queries of those who are planning to set up this solar project.

sa day normal operation,

Re: How to make your own home solar. With Pictures + solar b

i just skimmed the pdf file about the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 or RA 9513. puro mga large entities lang naman ang makakabenefit dito like companies who will venture into Renewable Energy research (through fundings) or electricity generation by giving them tax holidays and tax free importations of machineries and equipments use in energy generation.

may paasa lang sa section 23 of the law, wherein there will be a tax rebate (in part or full of the tax paid) for the purchase of RE equipments used for every residential, community or industrial use. pero hindi naman prinovide as to how we can avail of it if ever.

i was also expecting to see a provision wherein a government bank (DBP or Landbank) would provide a loan for an individual who would want to put up a RE (solar, for us) in our homes. ang ganda na sana ito para sa atin na wala pang ipon or capital to put up solar energy.

@quark... related to Renewable Energy Act of 2008 or RA 9513... ito ang bagong balita...

The Energy department said it will inaugurate a 100-kilowatt (kW) solar rooftop at Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) next month.
http://www.bworldonline.com/content...aunch-solar-rooftop-facility-at-MLQU&id=89133
Corporate News, Posted on June 13, 2014

Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla told reporters that MLQU’s renewable-energy facility will be the first to go online under the department’s solar rooftop program. Mr. Petilla said the government’s target to implement the project at 24 academic institutions will be achieved by the end of the year because installation will only take around 60 days. The Energy department said last February that putting up solar panels -- with 100-kW capacity each -- in 24 schools would entail an investment of P240 million.

... therefore 10M for a 100-kW capacity ang investment.

ayos yan mam para iwas na sa gastos sa kuryente ng mga schools. and its also a way para mapromote ang solar energy sa bansa. sana every year sila na may 24 school beneficiary para maging self-sufficient ang mga schools natin provided na "typhoon and flood proof" sana ang mga public shools natin.

the solar controller is a device put between the solar panel and the battery, it controls and regulates the charge of the battery... the amperage of the controller depends on the amperage of the solar panels
the inverter transforms the 12 volts from the battery to 220 volts to run all appliances in 220 volts... the wattage of the inverter depends on the wattage of the appliances.

Usually, they are delivered once or twice a month sa cdr king... if you go back there time to time you might be lucky and be able to buy one panel... Be aware that the most expensive is not the panel but the battery!

sa day normal operation,

Is your ref a 2 door ref? It's a lot better to have the ref run regularly the whole day and night with a timer than to stop it at night... better for the food and better for saving electricity... If you stop your ref four hours at night, it is useless because when you plug it back in the morning, it will just run longer... so you don't save anything and your food might get spoiled pa!
