[ADVISE] Help in Assembling/Building/Choosing/Upgrading Your Computer

Hi guys,

I started this thread to help everyone wanting a new computer. All you need to do is post the following:

budget:
usage:

other miscellaneous requirements:

*If to be used for gaming,. please indicate the games you wish to play.


The prices i will be using are those that come from major shops in gilmore and also PCexpress and others... The prices will only reflect that of which on the date of my post.


also please put your requests in this format:

please indicate (at least)the size of the hard disk desired, and also what you need/have/prefer.

How to get to Gilmore:
commuting... From EDSA get on the MRT to Cubao and take the other train and get off at Gilmore station. so easy.
driving... Via aurora is the easiest way from EDSA. anyway, just ask na lang cos i dunno where you'll be coming from.


An example post would be as follows:

Hi. Please help me buy a computer for my son. He will be using it mainly for school and some games. He likes to play Dota and L4D. Our budget for the PC would be 20K. We already have a printer, monitor and speakers. Our monitor is a 17" CRT monitor. My son said he prefers 1gb video card.

SATA is of course faster. and as the supply of IDE dwindles, the price of IDEs are going up... yes, SATA is better and also faster.

i see. kasi dun sa diskeeper warning na yung health ng HDD ko pero dun sa ultradefrag ok sya dun sa seatools ok din. alin ba ang mas reliable na app for checking HDD.

kahit ung built-in na defragmenter sa Windows gamitin mo, ok naman eh.. ako un ang gamit ko..

isa pang tanung,.bout naman sa fren ko plan kasing bumili

15k lang daw budget nya...pang encoding lang daw tsaka internet...

hindi sa kung ano2ng bagay, pang school/office works lang talaga...

ako naman...

sa desktop naman, pang games (ung mga sikat ngayon), image/video/music editing po...

tsaka na lang yung laptop...

30k lang...

Intel Little Falls (motherboard+CPU w/ onboard video) ~ 3K (little valley 2.5K)
1gb RAM DDR2 ~ 1K
ITX case with PSU 1.5K (or go for a cheap tower with 500W PSU ~ 1K)
DVD rom ~ 1.5K
hard disk(160gb-250gb) ~ 2K
16" LCD ~ 6K

basta pang office lang ha... on XP, ok na yan... add 1K for 2gb ram if on Vista.(i do not recommend vista)

yung sa iyo kasama rin ba monitor?

sir please indicate how big you want, and kung may preference sa intel or AMD, please refer to page 1 na lang sa format.

Power Supply: HEC 500W Raptor ~ 2500
monitor: 19" ~ 8000

ayan, nag over na ako. wala pa yan casing. mahirap ata pag quad core, hindi kaya. go na lang for dual core brisbane (Athlon X2 5400+ 2.8GHz 512kb L2 @ PhP4100)

All prices are taken from PChub except for video card which is available sa dynamic PC (tabi lang ng PChub gilmore)


This rig will dominate any app/game you put it up against. we can also opt for a lower model motherboard and video card but then it will defeat the purpose of the quad.

hmm...

GTX 260 vs HD 4870.

lamang ang GTX 260, pero not by much, frankly unless 32" or 40" ang display mo, you wouldn't know the difference...

depends on your preference and of course the price. may lalabas na bagong GTX 260(core 216), mas mura daw to sa current GTX 260.

512MB HD 4870 ~ 13K
896 GTX 260 ~ 15K

lamang ng bahagya ang 260 pero like i said. unless NVIDIA ang chipset mo at may matake advantage ka na features, (hybrid SLi) mag 4870 ka na lang, IMHO, mag 4850 ka na lang@9K you'd still not feel the difference on current games.

pwede shempre. 4850 @ 9K. ang ka level kasi ng 4850 is yung 9800GTX


wala naman hybrid SLi sa P35 board e.

SLi is for nvidia crossfire is for ATi. and no, the 4850 can stand up on its own. 1 HD 4850's can power a whole rig to play highend games at high settings no problems provided that your other parts meet the game's required hardware.

anyway, SLi 2 or 3 or 4* Nvidia Graphic processor units connected via SLi connectors (your motherboard should have 2-3 PCIe x16 slots and an Nvidia chipset)

crossfire has 2 or 3 or 4 ATi GPUs connected via crossfire connectors (your motherboard should have 2-4 PCIe x16 slots and an Intel or ATi chipset)
