I started this thread to help everyone wanting a new computer. All you need to do is post the following:

The prices i will be using are those that come from major shops in gilmore and also PCexpress and others... The prices will only reflect that of which on the date of my post.

How to get to Gilmore:
commuting... From EDSA get on the MRT to Cubao and take the other train and get off at Gilmore station. so easy.
driving... Via aurora is the easiest way from EDSA. anyway, just ask na lang cos i dunno where you'll be coming from.

wow if you get the antec tp550 for 2k. then thats a good buy.




i didnt know na mas mahal ang core2duo sa core2quad. maybe you're referring to other quadcore. (ex.: amd athlon x4)
as for your query, mahal ang core2duo (socket lga775) dahil obsolete na ito. which means marketing strategy na din para sa mga nagdedemand ng old parts. less numbers manufactured = less demand = more pricey.

Funny story regarding this site, special mention pa c locar and acid biscuit.

I've been researching for days now about processors and videocards, promise nahilo ako sa dami. Punta na ako sa sites ng gpureview.com, google dto google duon, pati sa benchmark.com nagpunta na din ako in search for a compatible rig for me.

Eto po ang current rig ko ngyon:
Intel core 2 duo E4600 @ 2.40 Ghz
Intel D946GZAB
4gb ram
Ati Radeon HD 4650

Ok, tuloy ang storya. Yesterday, i've finally found ung processor and videocard ko. Ung Core i5 2500k and Nvdia gtx 560 ti. Nagpunta pa nga ako ng gilmore knina para iconfirm kung meron na cla, although na check ko naman na ung site nila pero doublecheck lang. Then ngyon lang, google ko bka kc pwede pa isalvage ung mobo and processor ko kc sayang naman itatambak ko nlang. Kung pwede ba ung D946GZAB and ung GTX 560 ti.

Mga sirs, khit i google nyo pa, D946GZAB and Nvdia GTX 560 ti, lalabas tong site na toh, and saktong sakto ung conversation ni acidbiscuit and locar. You've really helped me aLOT! Especially acidbiscuit. Thank you kc nakita ko ung site na toh. Cguro kc looking forward ako sa the elder scroll V skyrim and crysis 2.

Thanks. I'm happy with the outcome as well, considering first time ko ito. More than aesthetics, typical woes ng isang first-timer tulad ko is kung tama ang gawa dahil siyempre, electronics/electrical equipment ang pinaglalaruan natin. Thankfully I did not encounter any issues. Actually isang minor issue lang yung metal backplate (yung takip ng mga USB ports, keyboard/mouse port, audio jacks, etc.) ng Thermaltake. Wala kasing metal backplate. Incidentally I figured out na puwede palang kalasin yung metal packplate ng old tower ko and ikabit dun sa Thermaltake.

Another funny experience was on how to remove the stock CPU cooler. Kakaiba kasi ang locks ng stock CPU cooler ng LGA775 na chipset, buti may nakita akong site na may pictures/screenshots.

Some of my other "difficult" experiences were the following:

Application of the thermal compound, since there's a lot of reading material and there are different points of view kung papaano ang tamang paglagay as far as kung pabilog na parang drop ba or pa-stripe (parang naglalagay ng toothpaste sa toothbrush). I went with Allain's advise which is yung pea-size na drop, and I think yun ang pinaka-common na nabasa ko so I guess yun ang pinaka-applicable na procedure.

Installation of the GTX 560 video card on the MSI G41M4-F motherboard. Hindi naman sa mahirap isaksak ang video card, pero mahaba siya. Eh sakto natatakpan niya ang mga plugs ng LED (the wires that you have to attach from the power/reset button/LEDs to the motherboard) as well as yung plug sa "speaker" (yung maliit na kinakabit sa motherboard para makarinig ka ng "beeping" sounds), and natatakpan din ng video card yung mga SATA ports. Out of my 4 SATA ports sa motherboard, tatlo lang ang magagamit ko kasi yung isa eh talagang natabunan na ng motherboard. So for now, yung "dock" ko eh hindi functional kasi hindi ko na maisaksak. But I can manage with that, after all wala pa naman akong balak na mag-hot swap ng hard disk via docking procedure.

Another challenge I had with the huge GTX 560 would be: dahil malaki siya, muntik na niyang matakpan ang regular PCI slot ng motherboard ko. Mahalaga sa akin yun because I had to install a wireless PCI card (receiver), yung Linksys WMP110 RangePlus. Kailangan ko yun for my "project" and it's actually the reason why I upgraded in the first place.

Luckily, with some estimations and being careful, nagkasya naman silang lahat. As in saktong-sakto lang ang dulo ng video card para maisaksak ko yung mga LED wires and motherboard speaker.

The rest of the parts naman is all about just reading the manual and following instructions, so no issues there. Pati nga yung Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus na CPU cooler, akala ko mahirap ikabit pero madali lang pala. Nakita ko kasi sa YouTube yung mga iba nahihirapan...siguro kasi yung mga Americans malalaki ang mga kamay unlike tayong mga Pinoy, lolz...

Cable management is something na hindi ko pa naasikaso. Battery testing mode muna ako with the new setup. And I'm still reading and looking at sample rigs para magkaroon ako ng maraming idea on how to properly arrange the wires. Grabe pala ang branded PSUs, akala ko kakapusin ako sa wire (dahil bottom mount ang PSU ko). Kabaligtaran pala...ang haba pala ng mga wires, hahaha! Hindi ko pa nga nagagamit ang mga modular wires eh. Hindi ko na muna ikinabit dahil baka maging over-crowded na ang loob ng tower. Baka nga pala magpaturo ako kung paano ang power management one of these days.

Grabe, what an experience. Parang gusto ko nga gumawa ng isang simpleng blog to share my story. Remembrance ko na rin for my first upgrade experience.

Finally, I'd like to thank Allain for helping me out. I was surprised na nag-initiate pa siya ng YM chat conversation para lang makatulong, I never expected na may tutulong nang ganun.

Storage: 2 Internal (250GB and 500GB), 2 External (160GB WD Passport and 1TB Seagate Desktop)

Upgraded Specs:

Tower Casing: Thermaltake Tt Dokker - PHP3,200
Video Card: NVIDIA (Palit) GTX 560 Ti Sonic - PHP10,900
PSU: Antec TP 750 Watts - PHP4,500
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - PHP1,500

Total Cost: PHP20,100

Napamahal lang ako sa PSU since I was initially going for the 550 Watts (PHP2,500) but I considered a future plan to upgrade to a better/newer processor. I was recommended to get a 650 W, pero wala nang stock sa store na binilhan ko.

wow that was a nice case. palitan mo lang mga led lights to red. all red ka na.
btw if maganda naman ang penetrator sa push air then kahit di mo na tanggalin. i cant comment kasi di ko marinig if maingay ang 2 fans push and pulling air.

try mo tanggalin ung pull air if its the same temps. if it is, then yun nalang lagay mo sa baba(intake).

overall you got a nice rig. konting cable management nalang. and for sure kickass na yan.

Hm, I observed the CPU while running/turned on and I would say na tahimik ang mga fan...kakatuwa nga eh. Or probably dahil ngayon lang ako naka-try ng branded fans, yung dati ko kasi eh non-branded na fans, yung tig-PHP90 to PHP100 lang. Sige, good recommendation for experimenting...I'll try to remove the secondary fan on the Cooler Master CPU Cooler (yung Silverstone) and will see if the temperature will stay the same...then transfer to the bottom air duct katabi ng PSU (intake).

core2duo and 560ti is bottleneck.

Nope. No facts or no basis na mainit ang amd sa intel. or vice versa.

Ang pinagkaiba -- Intel has a major impact on market due to alot of ads. tapos laptop manufacturers and desktop oem are likely to win intel's heart. pero this was way back 2006-2010. (dualcore/core2duo/core2quad) and to the benchies of 1st gen i3/i5&i7 to a whooping OC 5.0ghz @ air of sandybridge.

On the other hand -- the time when AMD wins is when 2001-2005 (athlon x2, or BE series/1st 64bit processors) this was the time that AMD beats intel. To date, from 2006 AMD is lacking performance due to new technology of Intel. So what AMD does is the so-called 'price per performance'.

To date, am3 processors -- still.. up until now can be advise because of cheaper prices. they were at the entry level and mainstream desktop.
on Intel processors (1155) -- they are now king of the hill. They belong to the enthusiast.


Future: am3+ will be coming out next month or 2months. AMD said it can have the same performance of sandybridge. (hopefully yes, so we can have a CPU war)


On netbooks and laptops, nowadays APU designed by AMD is winning at this. Why? because the gpu is in the cpu. and the tdp is lower or same as atom but better performance.

I think i know dragon. Im not sure if he's the dragon i bump at TPC.
Pero if you have a 100k, why settle for 2nd hand? why not buy a bnew one? i think you can have a 2600k and a 6990 for a 100k na.
