I graduated BSIT. Experience - call center tech support and IT sales. Never ko pa naranasan maging legit IT and I'm currently here in Dubai w officework (the only good side is that I'm getting Photoshop experience that I can put on my resume) - I'm developing my own website now so that I can put it on my portfolio. Super down and stress ako I even deactivated my social media accounts dahil feel ko wala kong nararating sa buhay and even the career I want I can't get it. Ppl will say bat di na lang bumalik sa pinas to gain experience sa IT field - gusto ko, pero my parents, nope, when you're in Pinas the thought na maganda ang sahod sa ibang bansa is very strong kaya idedemotivate ka na umuwi. In my case, nope. I can't even resign dahil kakavisa lang saken ng company.

Any way I can still do my goal? like freelance? Any recommendations sa free lancing? I'm thinking about going back to Ph after 2 years and maybe that time ko pa masisimulan yung career goal ko na at least may lakas ng loob na ko magapply for IT jobs kasi may portfolio na kong mapapakita.

Halimaw yung iba e. :)

This is so true sa PH. Good luck mate. (Wla akong maipapayo dahil wla akong trabaho)

Maganda yang plan mo to build a personal website. Portfolio na din yan, and at the same time, mahahasa mo pa ang sarili mo sa web dev.

I wanted to learn more and upgrade my skill, but not sure where to go to, network administration sana or IT, pero d ko naman yun kase natapos.

graduate of BSIT too. There are tons of programmer-related jobs here in the PH. In fact, everyday I received lots of job offers on my linkedin. What you're planning is good.

Any way I can still do my goal?
Indeed! If you start doing something now. I think the best thing to start is to build your portfolio, as you thought of it. Where to start?
Good to start with PHP w/ simple CRUD operations, then JavaScript, and CSS. If you get along w/ it, then try more something advance, like Laravel. Since you're just starting in this field, I'm pretty sure there will come a time na ma-bbored ka, and think will lose hope. Just enjoy programming and don't even think of landing a job as soon as possible. This only frustrates you. Patience lng if you really like to become a web dev and enjoy learning continuously.

like freelance? Any recommendations sa free lancing?
I'm not pretty sure if you can get freelance job w/o any coding experience. You'll have to go through interviews to know if you're fit for the job, but you can try :).
Anyways, learn and build your portfolio as much as you can.

God bless. :)

mag focus ka muna sa UI or web design total may experience kna sa photoshop, then saka mo pasukin web development..

Thanksss po nakakabuild up mga replies nio! I'll take note of it. :)

Since Grad. ka na ng BSIT I think madali na para sayo bumalik sa field ng IT pag free time mo or after ng work try mo mag self study ulit aralin mo lahat nun in demand ngayon na pasok sa interest mo, pag confident ka na ulit sa mga natutunan mo skills o narefresh mo na ulit knowledge mo try mo na mag freelancing or gawa ka ng personal projects mo tapos lagay mo sa github malaki din impact nun kahit wala ka portfolio.

Wag tayo mawalan ng pag-asa. Tara sabay tayo mag-aral. Malay mo maging workmates pa tayo in the near future. :)

anong klaseng work yan evilclown .. ayos to ha?

Not web but desktop developer here.
