Chat/Discussion of books we've read, Book Recommendations/Suggestions...

Re: Chat/Discussion of books we've read, Book Recommendations/Suggestions...

Nowadays, parang mas drawn ako sa mga YA Dystopian books. Ewan ko ba. hahaha! They're intriguing kasi eh, people who live in a controlled world na para sa kanila eh perfect, pero talagang hindi. Sino pa ba dyan ang nakabasa ng mga dystopian books?

Here's a rundown of the ones I have read:
The Giver series by Lois Lowry
(Fourth book of the series: Son)
The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Matched series by Ally Condie
Birthmarked series by Caragh O' Brien
Divergent series by Veronica Roth
Delirium series by Lauren Oliver

Nasa to-be-read list ko pa:
Gone series by Michael Grant
The Chaos Walking seriesby Patrick Ness
The Declaration/The Resistance by Gemma Malley
The Ember Series by Jeanne Duprau
Exodus series by Julie Bertagna

So far yan yung nasa Kindle ko. haha  The other books na hinahanap ko pa galing sa websites na 'to:
http://prettybooks.tumblr.com/dystopian1
http://www.bartsbookshelf.co.uk/2009/09/30/update-best-dystopian-ya-novels-redux/

Ano pa ba suggestions nyo dyan na YA Dystopian na books? :)

I also love dystopian! The idea of reading about a world different from our own is really interesting. Those above are really good books and most of those in your list I have already read.

I also love UGLIES SERIES by SCOTT WESTERFELD it has the same theme from those books you listed. I really think you might like it.

I also suggest BLOOD OF EDEN SERIES by JULIE KAGAWA. Its partly dystopian partly paranormal. I love the how the story goes and very unique for me. Also UNDER THE NEVER SKY by VERONICA ROSSI. HAPPY READING!

Re: Chat/Discussion of books we've read, Book Recommendations/Suggestions...

I highly recommend "The Study Series" (Poison Study, Magic Study, Fire Study) by Maria Snyder. Astig ung story. May magic and everything, pero ung twists and turns ng story is super cool. Ung bida is a lady, but surely guys would enjoy reading it as well.

Nabasa ko na Healer Series ni Maria Snyder, okay din writing style nya.. I will try her Study series nya.. thanks

errr....that's quite a difficult theme, google i guess can help you with that.

i don't think it's gonna be something in a romance/ya/na or even erotic books.

horror or mystery (ie serial killer types) maybe.

EDIT: ayan, nilagay ko sa google search - books with necrophilia, eto lumabas:

http://www.librarything.com/tag/necrophilia

that is always the case ;) very few were able to translate and make a movie (or tv series) more beloved than the book.

------------------

anyways, recent reads that are highly recommended:

Kelly Oram's The Avery Shaw Experiment, Teen Lit romance, dual POV, kilig
Emma Chase's Tangled, Romance, Male POV - Hilarious (paging all boys and men, can you read this and tell us if it's true  )

Hopefully I can finish the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series soon (still in book 4) so I can start Kane Chronicles and Heroes of Olympus series.

Whoever said - too many books, so little time - is a genius :p

Re: Chat/Discussion of books we've read, Book Recommendations/Suggestions...

Here are my top recommendations (for now):

1) Daughter of Smoke and Bone Series (YA: Angels) - The writing is just beautiful! My favoritest(?) of them all.

2) Lux Series (YA: Aliens) - DAEMON BLACK <-- That's all the reason you need to pick this up. Trust me, you won't regret it. Hahaha

3) Kate Daniels Series (UF: Fae, Shapeshifters, Vamps, etc.) - Most badass heroine I know. Highly recommended for urban fantasy readers. (Plus, I bet you'll fall in love with Curran)

4) Fever Series (UF/PNR: Fae) - Another really good series for UF lovers, although this has more steamy scenes, and it involves the Fae.

5) Lunar Chronicles (YA: Cyborgs) - My favorite modern day fairy tale retellings. Checkidawt!

6) Blood of Eden (YA: Dystopia, Vampires) - Some of you may be skeptical about vampire books but this series is a must-read. Dystopian feel.. :) From the same author who wrote the Iron Fey series.

7) Angelfall (YA: Dystopia, Angels) - Very easy read but watch out for the cliffhanger! Raffe <3 And Paige. T___T

8) Lumatere Chronicles (YA/Fantasy) - I super duper loved this story. Ang ganda talaga ng writing ni Marchetta! Great mix of adventure & romance!

9) Covenant (YA) - First book will remind you of Vampire Academy but it has its own charm by the second book.. and by the third you'll be rooting for either Seth or Aiden... I'll read Apollyon by October before Sentinel is released. :P

10) Queen's Thief (YA) - You know there are books where you can see the plot twist a mile away? This ain't one of them. This whole series blew my mind. Don't expect too much romance though, Gen is more than enough to keep you on your toes.

Happy reading, all! :)

P/S: Lately, I've been reading a lot of non-YA books. I really liked Wallbanger and Tangled. :D

And! And!... READ WAIT FOR YOU by J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout) Nakakainlove si Cam  Kala nyo si Daemon lang ang nakakakilig? Think again! Hahaha

Add me on GR esp. if we have similar tastes in books! ;)
